🚨 The new mandated Vermont Childcare Tax is NOT an Employee Benefit Program! Effective 7.1.24 - All Vermont employers with one or more employees are subject to the Child Care tax for the purpose of funding the Child Care Financial Assistance Program. It is essentially a business tax, with employers able to recoup 25% of it from their employees (if they choose to). The new revenue will be used to fund increased access to quality childcare services and afterschool and summer programs across Vermont.  👉 Employers can pay the entire .44% of wages, or decide to deduct up to 25% (.11%) from their employees. The first filing date is October 25, 2024 (for tax period July – September).
