Worked with a developer to design a tool that extracts key data (UI strings and status bar help) from Microsoft Dynamics AX. This tool made it much easier for writers to write help topics, called Form Help topics, that described each of the forms on the field and their purpose. Form Help topics were key topics that we delivered for the release and made up more than 1/3 of the total number of end-user topics delivered for the release. Worked with a developer to design a tool that extracts key data (UI strings and status bar help) from Microsoft Dynamics AX. This tool made it much easier for writers to write help topics, called Form Help topics, that described each of the forms on the field and their purpose. Form Help topics were key topics that we delivered for the release and made up more than 1/3 of the total number of end-user topics delivered for the release. Over time, we made enhancements to the tool. We added the ability to compare different application versions to one another. Writers used the output from the tool to identify field name changes on forms and new fields on forms. The enhanced version of the tool made it easier to update topics that had already been published. This tool is still used by writers as a regular part of the content creation process.
