  • 2015 National Retail Federation Student Challenge

    The Student Challenge is a nationwide product development competition. Teams are challenged to choose a company and create an innovative product that solves a consumer need present in the current market.     The Student Challenge is a nationwide product development competition. Teams are challenged to choose a company and create an innovative product that solves a consumer need present in the current market. Teams are tasked with creating a fifteen page business plan and a ninety second pitch video. There are three rounds. The first round is a submission of the business plan and pitch video. After this round, feedback is given and five semi-finalists are chosen. The second round is a twenty-five minute conference call, in which teams give a five minute overview of the product. They are then are asked questions related to the business plan and overview. The final round is held at the National Retail Federation's Big Show in New York, and teams pitch their product live to a panel of five retail executives.

    As a member of the student challenge team, I was able to represent the University of North Texas on a national scale. We chose The Container Store as our company, and designed a customizable trunk storage solution for the time starved consumer that needs organization in every aspect of their lives.
