  • Expansive Rights: FDR's Proposed 'Economic' Bill of Rights Memorialized in the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights, But with Little Impact in the United States

    My article compares President Roosevelt's proposed "Economic" Bill of Rights with the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (ICESCR). President Roosevelt's proposal failed to gain much traction in Congress during his tenure as President, but his proposal lives on through the ICESCR.

  • Incident to Service: Analysis of the Feres Doctrine and Its Overly Broad Application to Service Members Injured By Negligent Acts Beyond the Battlefield

    My article explores a doctrine which prohibits military service members from filing medical malpractice claims against negligent military doctors. The doctrine was established in a seminal 1950 U.S. Supreme Court case, Feres v. United States (hence, the name Feres Doctrine).     The article will be published in Volume XIV of the Appalachian Journal of Law in the fall of 2014.
