I helped host a workshop for AR and VR technologies a month before the weekend itself, where I spoke about AR. Then, at a jam-packed Startup Weekend at Microsoft's campus Building 86, I had the honor of mentoring four out of the 14 startup companies. This included TeleportIn, who I helped choose Moverio as an interesting platform for employee management systems and using the OpenTok API to facilitate communication between clients. HoloShopper, showed a VR retail demo which I helped implement the Oculus Rift CV1 support in Unity, Death Ride was an anti-drunk driving VR app that I helped implement Rift DK2, and Virtual Home was a full-service home-scanning company that hosted the scans accessible through iPad or Gear VR who I turned onto using the MatterPort camera system for scanning.

HoloShopper won third place and TeleportIn won the grand prize at Startup Weekend!

Honors & Awards

  • Best of Snap AR

    M.I.T. Reality Hack

My team and I won Best of Snap AR for our immersive fitness application SportSpecs for the Next Generation SnapChat Spectacles.

This application was an AR app that allowed you to swipe and select various exercises that the user would be guided through, with the ability to do the exercises while wearing the AR glasses.

  • Winner: Best Room-Scale Experience at USC VR Hackathon

    Reality Virtually/HTC

The Creating Reality Hackathon(aka USC VR Hackathon) is organized by the same organization as the Reality Virtually Hackathon(aka the MIT VR Hackathon). I attended the Hackathon and pitched a large-scale untethered VR maze experience to the attendees, and built an amazing team that helped bring the idea to life. Representatives from HTC Vive were the judges for the Best Room-Scale category, and chose Manifold VR as the Winner.

  • 2nd Place: Best AR App at AT&T VR/AR Hackathon

    AT&T

I attended the AT&T VR/AR Hackathon with an idea in mind: to deliver arbitrary data to smartglasses over the internet. Using Epson Moverio and Vuforia, we were able to set up a server with web portal that allowed us to send calendar data, images, text, and video to a pair of Epson Moverio smartglasses. We called the app "DreamHUD".
