How would you approach following up with a promising connection after a networking event?
People are busy and memories are short. Here are some tips on how to follow-up: 1. Personalize your outreach. I have always believed that "As humans we remember more we say than what we hear". Hence, say something to the effect that "I really appreciated how you framed that discussion, approached that question etc. Added a whole new perspective to how I thought about that particular issue. 2. Be Authentic: Someone may be a promising connection, but if you did not have a meaningful conversation to have a personalized connection per #1 above, it's better to be direct ie. "Sorry we did not get a chance to connect deeply. But I would really love to find time with you to discuss.....Here is why I think that will be a great opportunity for us"

Here's how you can resolve resource allocation conflicts fairly and efficiently as a consultant.
In my experience, every effort should be made to avoid conflicts in the first place so you do not get to a point where you have to resolve conflicts. To avoid conflicts, you need early alignment i.e. 1. Transparent communication: Invite key stakeholders in a dialog. Communicate both the why and the what. Ask for feedback. Do they trust that you communicate in an open and transparent way? 2. Goal Alignment: What are top priorities? How did we arrive at those priorities? Do we agree? If we do not agree, do we "Disagree and Commit"? 3. Tradeoffs: You can not do everything. Hence it is important that there is alignment on goals nd trust in communication. Then everyone involved is more likely to align on tradeoffs and decisions.
