Ralph Lauren Corp., one of fashion’s most consistent performers, topped fourth-quarter earnings estimates as it continued to focus on its core products and push up its average unit prices. In the fourth quarter, Ralph Lauren’s net income jumped 180 percent to $90.7 million, or $1.38 a diluted share, from $32.3 million, or 48 cents, a year earlier. Adjusted earnings of $1.71 a share came in 5 cents ahead of the $1.66 analysts had penciled in, according to Yahoo Finance.

The topic of innovation is top of mind in the performance running shoe market – especially if you ask Nike, which has been widely criticized for having a lackluster product pipeline by analysts and the Street in recent months. It’s nearly June, which means it’s time to commemorate LGBTQIA+ Pride month. But unlike in recent years, it isn’t business as usual for some companies, following a fierce backlash in 2023 over Pride-themed marketing and merchandise. Some Americans took their displeasure for Pride to a new level — for instance, by slamming Adidas and Nike online for using trans models and damaging store displays at retailers like Target. The firestorm came at the same time as a record number (over 500) anti-LGBTQIA+ bills were presented to state legislatures last year, according to the American Civil Liberties Union. Over the last year, FULLBEAUTY Brands has quietly been building a #plussize fashion empire. In early 2023, the 120-year-old company owned 12 plus- and inclusive-size brands including Swimsuits For All and Roaman’s, which it had acquired over the decades. But in the last 12 months, it has added to its portfolio three #DTC and digitally-native plus-size brands, including CUUP , the formerly Walmart-owned ELOQUII and, most recently, Dia & Co. The acquisitions speak to FullBeauty’s continued growth, which reflects how brands from outside the plus-size space, like Old Navy and Walmart, are giving way to more specialized retailers. In its latest report on Thursday, the lingerie giant revealed that its preliminary sales and adjusted profit for the quarter ending May 4 exceeded or met its previous forecasts. Although net sales experienced a 3 to 4 percent decline during the period, it surpassed earlier expectations of a potential 6 percent decrease. Notably, the company highlighted the strong performance of its online sales, which outpaced in-store results. Over the past two years, Victoria’s Secret has been contending with declining sales. In response, the retailer revamped its fashion show and expanded its offerings in swimwear and apparel to attract customers and reclaim its relevance.
