Dave the Diver is getting a Godzilla DLC, and it is free!! This new DLC will see Dave come face-to-face with the might Godzilla himself, though in keeping with the true spirit of Godzilla you won’t be fighting the big lizard so much as helping it overcome one of its adversaries, Ebirah, Horror of the Deep, from the 1966 live-action movie of the same name. Tip for publishing consideration submission to Midwest Games... tldr - Send info through our portal (https://lnkd.in/gWtKgpuU), not through email (or LI). I get that it's a little counter-intuitive...you might think you want to put your info right in front of the sourcing decision influencers' faces. But it's actually a disadvantage - especially those of you who are agents throwing multiple titles at us at once. The submission portal goes right to our database, and that database is there for a reason: to keep an organized and consistent record of all submissions in one place. I look through there all the time. I'm reminded of titles I may have overlooked or need to go back to consider as circumstances change all the time. We rarely, if ever, make immediate decisions or even quick deep review/consideration. Our factors for consideration shift regularly. I do not review your particular email regularly, or at some point even remember you sent one. I go to the database. Connection via other channels is good. Discussion about your game over other channels is good. But having your core game info in those channels is not good. Please use the submission portal!

Such a sad situation for Arkane Studios Austin. No team deserves to be shutdown like this. I played a lot of Redfall and enjoyed it. This isn't all corporate greed and stock prices; we as fans have a role in this as well. I'm not saying that we shouldn't critique or call out unkept promises during development. Far too often when we criticize, we lose the human element behind these large projects. Those at Arkane, Bethesda Game Studios, タンゴゲームワークス（Tango Gameworks）, this is not your fault. 🎮 Want a job in the video game industry? 🎮 Begin with the end in mind.* ➡ When you drive to work do you just turn left or right based on how you feel that day? 😅 (I hope you left extra early that day) ➡ When you gather data for a project, do you grab monthly active users, popular breakfast items and breeds of dog? 🤐 (This report might be fun but your boss will not be happy) ➡ When you schedule a doctor appointment, do you call random numbers in the phone book? 🙃 The same applies to...well...applying for jobs. ❔ Do you look at the minimum requirements for a job or do you click easy apply on cool titles? (Although, I might as well shoot my shot for Game Director) ❔ Do you update your resume with your most relevant experience when you apply? What is your desired outcome? Work backwards and you'll see at least some of the steps in a path to get there. This is not easy to do, because there is no perfect way to be the best fit for a job. Everyone's journey is different. Path of Exile 2 is primed for Steam Deck Domination! While Path of Exile 2's release date remains a mystery, Grinding Gear Games confirms they're optimizing the game for flawless Steam Deck play. The Steam Deck's handheld prowess makes it a natural fit for Path of Exile 2. The dev team understands this, actively working to ensure a smooth experience from day one. This news stems from Noah Kupetsky at SteamDeckHQ. During a hands-on with the PC demo at Summer Games Fest, Kupetsky inquired about Steam Deck compatibility. The developers confirmed their commitment to optimizing the game for the portable powerhouse, aiming for a "without issue" launch on the Deck. Path of Exile 2's intricate character builds and loot systems rely on detailed on-screen text. This very element likely prevented the original game from achieving a "Verified" status (it currently sits at "Playable"). For Path of Exile 2 to secure that coveted "Verified" badge, the default text size would need a significant increase. EDIT: I appreciate everyone's interest, but we've found our new DD. Offer accepted last night. Game Producers: Going fast, but we're hiring a Development Director on my team. This is a mid-to-senior level production role, based in the US working remote (from approved states) focusing on process and general skills. We are actively interviewing, but still open to a last minute unicorn if you'd like to get in to the process before we make our decision. My ideal candidate fills all of the following (READ these, don't just reach out blind): - At LEAST 5 years experience in production (DD, Producer, PGM, TPM) IN the game industry, with a STRONG preference toward LiveOps/MMOs. If you don't have actual experience working on a live service game, that means we have to train you into the role - and I need someone who can not only come in strong, but can help level us up. You've been there, you know the drill, you've learned the hard way what works and more importantly, what does NOT. - Real scrum experience. Our team is undergoing an agile transformation as I write this and that means I need someone to help with that. The CSM or PSM-1 is the minimum price of admission here, but I need actual boots-on-the-ground experience in running agile teams, preferably with experience helping with a waterfall-to-scrum transformation ON a live game. - More than just a "pod leader" or scrum master. If you've got a lot of experience with running stand-ups, sprint plannings, and moving tasking on Jira boards, that's great. I need you to also be able to become an expert in the game, understand issues that relate to player expectations, live market sales, in-game event planning, greenlighting content. The best candidates are more than just production - they're a little bit design, a little bit product, and a little bit magician. - You've got a system for that. I'm going to ask you how you come up with your dates. I'm going to ask you how you validate your reports. I'm going to ask you how you assess risk, how you track your team's health, how you update leadership, how you make sure we're on course. I'm going to want to hear your systems you've created or used more than just how you personally do it all yourself. If we've worked together in some capacity and you'd like to talk to us about this OR you know someone I should talk with, reach out asap. Last week was filled with new games on the top charts. 🏅 I'll talk about some of them below. ✅ “Zenless Zone Zero” by HoYoverse The developer of the big hits “Genshin Impact” and “Honkai: Star Rail” released its new action RPG for iOS, Android, PC, and PS5 last week: “Zenless Zone Zero”. As with previous HoYoverse games, ZZZ begins with incredible numbers. 🤯 In five days the game reached almost US$20MM in IAP revenue on the Apple store alone. Among the game reviews, I recommend Harshal Karvande's excellent article on the Naavik blog. 👉 🧠 ✅ “Schoolboy Runaway - stealth” by Linked Squad “Schoolboy” is a life simulator in which the player is a young man unhappy with his parents. As it says in the store description, “immerse yourself in the role of a schoolchild whom the parents punished for a bad grade at school, and try to escape from home without being noticed by father and mother.” 😕 Despite its ethical dilemmas, the game has become a trend in Russia 🇷🇺 and is spreading around the world. In the last two weeks, the game has accumulated more than 2MM downloads. ✅ “Wasteland Life: Survival Idle” by SayGames I mentioned "Wasteland” in my list of releases and transfers from the last half of May. It is an Idle Arcade with a Mad Max-style desert survival narrative. 🏜️💦 Developed by Tinkles Games, “Wasteland Life” started the growth stage on June 4th, reaching over 1MM so far. 📈 ✅ “Minesweeper NETFLIX” by Netflix Developed by Smoking Gun Interactive Inc. Hello friends. Last month, I was looking for more work and finally secured some on Reddit from a guy who needed help with preproduction on his Tabletop RPG / Card Battler. After a meeting with him, he showed me what he had and it was quite impressive. He had a prototype of a card-battler using a tabletop RPG battle system, but he had little to no documentation or planning—he's been chiseling away at his game for a few months in his spare time after work. I suggested that before I dive into art, we flesh out the game design and the rest of the game up to around an 80% mark and let the last 20% be changes, additions, and that sort. As your game evolves, it'll come into it's own and you'll find things that need changed or added, this accounts for that. He agreed and I asked if I could work on all this since I did that with my game Alligori and lead the team from start to finish with our vertical slice, and I know tabletop RPGs very well. He agreed and we did the whole song and dance with paperwork, and he sent over a retainer and I began work the following Monday. Three weeks go by and we're working great together. I'm fleshing out his game, adding some meat to the backbone of his prototype with classes, abilities, etc. My goal was to write out as much as possible and then trim content to fit it into a 1-year development cycle. So I flesh a bulk of his game out, and then categorize it more into a game design document that clearly conveys concepts, ideas, and mechanics. Catching up, last week was the final week of my first month and payment was due. He just up and disappears like a fart in the wind, I have no idea if he's alive, incarcerated, on vacation, or what. He didn't remove me on Discord, so I don't entirely suspect malicious intent, but he gave no notice. That's the risk you run with working 1-on-1 with a client remotely, one day they can just up and disappear. I do have paperwork, so I may pursue legal action. If he doesn't log on by Friday, I'm going to publicly release all my documentation and the GDD I wrote on here.
