“I had the privilege of working with Liz Walsh at Forbes. Liz is a remarkable leader whose accomplishments speak volumes about her capabilities and vision. I worked closely with her and witnessed how her strategic mind paired with her unmatched work ethic created opportunities that directly contributed to impressive growth in sponsorship revenue and community engagement. What truly sets Liz apart is her innate ability to operate, build, scale, and innovate. In every sense, Liz is more than just an accomplished marketing executive. She's a visionary leader whose impact extends beyond conventional boundaries.”

Here's how you can use emotional intelligence to create a diverse and inclusive venture capital portfolio.
A deep ecosystem and network is essential to sourcing (and winning) deals, and especially important for sub $250M "emerging" manager funds. In this cohort, we're driving the alpha, and it's harder than ever to advance discussions at every stage of the operation. Emotional intelligence and network building go hand in hand. Partnership is critical, and portfolio founders can also reap the rewards of a strong venture & fund network at every stage of their journey. We have to support the incredible companies that we fund, and I see the network as another powerful way to put wind in our founders sails.. so to speak.

Venture Capital firms are struggling to keep up with the times. What are they missing out on?
Think bigger, diversify, get back to non-linear, risk core of VC: Backing the founders, companies and tech that address the biggest problems to advance us. Deep-tech capital is projected to reach $200 billion by 2025, which is minuscule compared with capital that flows into asset-light startups. Too many founders can't make it through the dry spell, and capital markets are failing to support science-backed breakthroughs at the scale that is needed. Take a lifecycle approach, consider if companies will be in the portfolio a long while. Investors will likely see bigger returns in the long run.
