⁉ Why you should learn PBR? Adobe tells us that Physically based rendering (PBR), is a method of shading and rendering that provides a more accurate representation of how light interacts with material properties. Now as a Material Artist, this is super important. 💡 Light is what makes a scene cohesive and realistic. If we want to create something close to how it looks in the real world we need to understand that every surface helps the light bounce in different directions. If we create a surface that interacts with light as it does in our world then we can make the most accurate worlds digitally. If you want to learn more follow me! #3d #vfx #texturing #TextureArtist #3dtexturing #digitalartist #substance3ddesigner #3dartist #gameartist #gameart #adobe

Adam Duff LucidPixul makes a Souls Game analogy on working on your craft as an artist in this video cast, and it is great because it is true! Life is like souls games you gota keep at it and at some point, you get that reward in life. Great analogy! Also, if you have not sub go subscribed to Adam Duff, all artists need to hear what he says in his casts. Same with casts like Bobby Chiu you need these expert artists in your life who bring positivity in frustrating times. The last few posts I talked about reaching some goals or going for some goals in life while also having challenges prior. That is part of life and something I have zero regret doing. I talked on crunch and some to a great majority was self-imposed because if you know me personally, I am a workaholic. It has only been recently (3-4years) where I am allowing myself to enjoy more life and take time on more personal things. But, without that grind I know I would not be where I am. I have always been the type of artist who does art even after work and studies at a constant, and I still do this. :) This comes mainly because I always feel that the industry as at a constant shift from technology to art trends, but I also enjoy learning all this, so it is not a problem. Beyond of course the constant work it takes. It is not easy it never was for newer artists or even experienced artists. I hear like Adam many newer artists that it is "harder" now and while to some degree that is true. The fact remains it was never easy to enter and stay in this industry for extended period of time. The devotion it takes is truly extreme. Sometimes I put it akin to a calling this is as my calling in a non-religious way of saying it of course. I cannot imagine myself doing anything else in life. That is perhaps the biggest reason some newer artists who have that fire but cannot get into the industry hurt so much. If I could express to artists is that many of these hardships that seem impossible to accomplish are not. A mountain of goals is only a mountain of goals in your mind if that is how you view it. Instead of mountains think of them as smaller hills that once you reach to top of those it gives you more experience to reach the next higher hill and so on. This post is getting a bit long for sure, but we do live in a world of instant satisfaction and nothing in life that is worth it, is instant. From the concept of trying your best to be the best person you can be to meeting and marrying your partner and staying in a long relationship it is not easy, and you must work at it day and day out. I am lucky to have found a person on this life who appreciates what I do daily, because we are both artists Sharlene Lin my soul mate. We have both gone through a life event prior that make many life issues trivial. We all have our crucibles. #lucidpixul #adamduff #artist #craft #life #gamedev #digitalartist #artistlife https://lnkd.in/grZt7N_Q

My goal in this tutorial is to expand my skill set by creating procedural organic material in Substance Painter. I came up with this idea after seeing the artwork Baby Zerg by Cino Lai. I didn't use any reference, color palette, or concept. I figured it out during the process, so you might see a little bit of struggle with parameters. :D "Watch the full tutorial here." :https://lnkd.in/d2jN3_Ra I also created 25 smart materials using this workflow, which you can download here: https://cstu.io/2afa60 #Substance #gamedesign #3d #gameart #Material #digitalart #digitalart #Animation #Substancepainter #Digital3D #art #Texturing

Happy Friday all! So you got 3ds + zbrush import export issues.. no problem I got you covered. #tip Problem 1: Holes in mesh in Zbrush after importing. Solution: Check export settings and set Faces to Triangles (same for FBX, check Triangulate). Alternatively apply Subdivide modifier before export + Edit Poly and weld vertices on low threshsold. Problem 2: Black faces on mesh after importing or exporting. (Usually happens with mirror / symmetry use) Solution: Apply Reset Xform, Normal modifier to flip faces (all black), Edit Normals (all faces normal direction should be same), Normal modifier (flip again for correct normal direction) Collapse All. Problem 3: Unitfied Normals after importing in 3DS Max Solution: Edit Normals, select all and Reset, Collapse All. Nikki, an acrobat and sorceress, for the ImagineFX magazine challenge! This month the theme was redesigning characters from old-school games and Pandemonium was one of my favorite games as a kid ✨ I hope to work on Nikki a bit more before adding it all to Artstation, but you can sneak a peek!😉 #IFXCharacterRedesign

Following the taillight of AI Just watched a new video from a DESIGN SCHOOL CHANNEL, it's been a while since their last update. Designers really don't know how to talk big, but the gist of what they say is that only top-notch designers can survive. Of course, insiders understand that AI still has its limitations, even using prompts requires human input. But the main point is well made; many students focus on rendering, and fancy details, without functional design. I've already talked about this in terms of Gundam design, and real machines, I think 7:3 is the best ratio. 7 for practicality, and 3 for aesthetics. In their new designs in Gundam, you're just flying out and dropping debris. I also understand why students are going in this direction ~ inflation. When everyone uses computer assistance, if it's not attractive at first glance, no one will care. I come from a VFX background, also relying on computers to make a living. CG used to compete with hand-drawn animation, but there were many effects that CG technology couldn't replicate, so I focused more on games and movie special effects. But now, AI is close to completely replacing what people used to do by hand. By the way, does anyone still play DIABLO 2? I think PALADIN offers the most diverse gameplay for a character.

Hey friends, Just wanted to check in with a little update on my end. My contract with Rocketcat is going great-- we're making big strides in our progress and the art is looking better and better every day! Now, you may be wondering, "Why does David still have the #OpenToWork banner on his LinkedIn profile if he's happily leading the art development of a new project at Rocketcat Games?" Well, that's because I'm a freelancer, silly! I've always got to plan ahead for the Next Big Thing (or even Concurrent Things, as the case may be)! So with that said: hit me up if you're in need of an experienced #3DArtist who specializes in #CharacterModeling, with a deep understanding of the entire art production pipeline. #TaskManagement, #TimeBoxing, #TeamLeading, #LookDev, #ArtDocumentation, #3DModeling, #Texturing, #Animation, #EngineImplementation... The list goes on! Whether you're seeking a 3D Artist for some one-off assets, freelance projects, contract gigs, or even full-time work, please reach out! I'd love to discuss how I can assist you!!* *Unless, of course, you're looking for generative AI or NFT stuff-- that's a big "no bueno" from me, bud.

🌶 If you are always one tutorial away from being "ready", I have bad news for you. You will NEVER be ready, just like lil’ Billy with his sword. Plus it will cost you a fortune… So instead of selling you another tutorial on technique or how to get a job in the Industry… I'm going to teach you both for ABSOLUTELY FREE. 👉You want the full method to go from Zero to Pro level and craft a banger portfolio that gets you hired in the Industry? Go get my Video Course, it will tell you exactly what you need to learn based on your current level, and where to find the best online education for it. https://lnkd.in/eDMJiE_F It's the Ultimate Self-Taught Artist Playbook, and I want Art schools to hate it.

I invented XR, the hardware stack for the metaverse, in it's current itteration, & I challenge any of you to prove me wrong, because I have receipts(NDAs, email correspondence) with plenty John Hancock's & letterheads. Mark Zuckerberg acquired this company where I first publicly disclosed to, just to unalive my one pager from the internet. https://lnkd.in/eBjFEM6V & this was another company acquisition, to unalive vouches given to me by almost every component manufacturer that I was collaborating with to build it at the time. So who are they? What components are they? What corporate entity acquired them? Top tier of coarse. Do your own due diligence. https://lnkd.in/e3NP_jQn Is there no justice for misappropriation? At this point I want my Nobel Prize. Come at me bro.
