70% of museum-goers prefer digital experiences, and blockchain tech is leading the way! 🌐✨ 10 major museums, including the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the Swiss National Museum, launched blockchain projects through Web3 for the Arts and Culture (WAC) Lab. Here's how they're redefining museum engagement: Innovative Engagement: Museums presented projects aimed at creating new relationships with visitors, from live "minting" experiences to innovative fundraising models. This helps museums engage younger, tech-savvy audiences and secure funding. WAC Lab’s Mission: Launched in 2021 by We Are Museums, WAC Lab educates cultural institutions in Web3, transforming them into technology pioneers. Supported by the Tezos Foundation, known for its low environmental impact, the initiative promotes blockchain use in the art world. Interactive Experiences: For example, Crystal Bridges Museum collaborated with digital agency Broken Egg to develop an immersive experience showcasing woodworking processes. This project aims to increase the museum’s exhibiting capacity by 50%. Engaging the Youth: Nimi, a Web3 tech startup, partnered with institutions to create digital collectibles and token-based engagement strategies. For the Goethe-Institut Lisbon, they developed a membership token system rewarding attendance. Nextmuseum.io: Germany’s Museum Ulm worked with Nimi to enhance nextmuseum.io, a digital platform for collaborative curation. The goal is to transform it into a DAO, giving participants a say in the platform’s direction through governance tokens. Addressing the Age Gap: With museum member ages averaging in the 60s and 70s, these strategies aim to engage millennials and Gen Z. Despite steady visitor numbers, younger audiences remain less engaged, a trend these projects hope to reverse. What do you think? Can blockchain tech revolutionize the way we experience museums? I just published a new op-ed on VentureBeat about the dangers of California's Senate Bill 1047 for the state's AI industry. 🚨 This bill claims to promote "safe and secure" AI innovation, but it would actually crush AI startups under a mountain of vague regulations and government overreach. SB 1047 would let unaccountable bureaucrats arbitrarily ban AI capabilities, force companies to put "kill switches" in their systems, and impose huge compliance burdens that only Big Tech could afford. If it passes, California's vibrant AI ecosystem could be in jeopardy. Startups and researchers might flee to states with more innovation-friendly policies. We need targeted rules to prevent real abuses around privacy, data rights, and IP - not clumsy regulations written by people who don't fully grasp the technology. California has a choice: lead the AI revolution or regulate ourselves into irrelevance. I believe in a future where responsible innovation thrives! 🚀 Check out my article to see why we need to stop SB 1047 before it's too late. Then contact your state representatives and encourage them to vote NO on this potentially harmful bill. Let's ensure California remains the best place to build the future, not a bureaucratic graveyard for groundbreaking ideas. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this important issue! If you care about the future of AI innovation in California, please share! #SB1047 #AIregulation #CaliforniaAI #innovation #VentureBeat #AI

Vishal Sachdev highlights the strategic integration of open source and proprietary tech in architecting tech stacks, developer ecosystems and resulting business models. The world class companies effectively balance value commoditization in open source and value capture in proprietary tech. This is the strategic challenge for companies operating in #blockchain and #AI. I believe those who operate at the intersection of blockchain *and* AI stand to win this strategic battle...

Recently, Anthropic shared its perspective on California's proposed AI regulation bill, SB 1047, with the California Assembly. While recognizing the importance of safe AI development, Anthropic has raised substantial concerns about the bill's current form, which could potentially hinder innovation and harm the United States' competitive edge in AI. Anthropic's key points include shifting the focus from "pre-harm enforcement" to a more adaptable "outcome-based deterrence" model. They also advocate for regulations that focus more narrowly on frontier AI safety to avoid redundancy with federal requirements. Additionally, they suggest giving regulatory authority to the Government Operations Agency instead of creating a new state agency. Anthropic believes that these amendments will encourage innovation in risk reduction practices and incentivize companies to adopt measures that prevent catastrophic risks. In contrast, the AI Salon Policy & Civic Engagement Guild shares Anthropic's commitment to ethical AI and safe development but has broader concerns about the bills. We believe that overly burdensome regulations may discourage AI development and lead to job losses. Compliance requirements favor large companies, potentially driving smaller startups out of the market, and overregulation might cause California to fall behind other regions in AI development. Furthermore, compliance under penalty of perjury imposes significant personal risk on developers, and strict regulations could disadvantage California-based companies in the global AI market. On behalf of the over 1700+ members of the AI Salon, we urge our larger community to engage in this crucial dialogue about AI regulation. By advocating for well-balanced policies that protect public interests without stifling innovation, we can ensure California remains a leader in ethical and responsible AI development. Please sign the letters of support and join us in shaping a future where AI is developed and deployed with ethical integrity, social responsibility, and inclusive governance. Together, we can bridge the gap between AI technology and policymaking, fostering an environment where innovation thrives alongside robust safety measures. https://lnkd.in/e6MRBmcX #AIRegulation #EthicalAI #Innovation #PolicyEngagement #Anthropic #AISalon #PublicPolicy #TechPolicy Kyle Shannon Leah Fasten Brandon Tidd Stacie L. Is the XR Ecosystem Evolving through Collaboration? #meta #horizonos 🥽🕶️ Meta's recent announcement allowing third-party hardware manufacturers to ship devices with the Meta Horizon OS could signify a significant shift in the XR industry. This collaboration among hardware players might lead to a consolidation and further maturation of the XR ecosystem. Let’s understand a few things! Is Consolidation Enhancing the XR Ecosystem? This collaboration among hardware players could bring several benefits: 1. Diverse App Selection: One of the challenges in the XR industry has been the lack of apps and content. With multiple hardware manufacturers adopting the same OS, we can expect a wider range of applications on devices. This move may also reduce development costs for developers and increase the addressable market. 2. Specialized Device Options: Organizations often require devices with specific features and functionality. A compatible OS across multiple vendors could lead to more specialized devices tailored for unique scenarios. This could also encourage more hardware vendors to invest in XR device development. 3. Increased Competition: While Meta's market share may increase, it could also drive other major players like Apple, Google, and Samsung to increase their investment and competitiveness in the XR space. While this news marks progress for XR, the industry is still in its early stages and I hope it picks up soon! #meta #metahorizonos #xr #ar #vr #mr #metaverse

As the #AI cold war heats up, all sides are under pressure to perform. Artificial intelligence startups are struggling to generate revenue, but platforms leveraging their models are also weighing the risks and rewards through a tighter lens. That’s what makes Webflow’s purchase of Intellimize an intelligent move. While adding #generativeAI for #content to a workflow has reached peak parity, Webflow is looking for ways to expand its value to a growing number of larger teams by offering AI-driven optimization. A leading #website builder with more than 3.5 million users, Webflow will integrate Intellimize’s #personalization and #optimization capabilities into its ecosystem – which already features robust tools and an onboard CMS – to deliver what it calls the world’s first “Website Experience Platform.” As founder and CEO Vlad Magdalin observed in his post about the news, Webflow is endeavoring to solve the problem of deploying cumbersome optimization tools that require significant engineering support. “Our goal is to give marketing teams and web agencies the ability not only to build incredible web experiences, but also seamlessly personalize those sites for different audiences, easily create experiments to test which versions perform better, and to optimize their buyer journey throughout their website to drive conversions and revenue.” We unpack what this means to users – and the market – on CMS Critic.

In the upcoming KZero Worldswide report, The Ten Steps Towards Metaverse Interoperability, we're laying out the stages required for borderless virtual worlds. The fifth step is Scalability & Performance (link to article in the comments). ▶ Ensuring scalability and optimal performance of virtual worlds, especially in a decentralised environment, is essential for delivering seamless user experiences across platforms. ▶ Network infrastructure is the backbone of the Metaverse and latency is one of the most critical factors affecting user experience. High latency can cause delays and disruptions, breaking the immersive nature of virtual environments. The decentralised nature of the Metaverse exacerbates this issue, as data must travel across distributed networks rather than through centralised servers. ▶ New business models can emerge from partnerships between Metaverse platforms and telecom providers. These collaborations can lead to the development of specialised Metaverse network plans that prioritise low-latency connections, enhancing the user experience and driving engagement. ▶ One of the biggest barriers to interoperability is the lack of standardised protocols for data exchange between different VWs. Each platform often uses its proprietary formats for assets, avatars and interactions, creating silos. ▶ Developing common standards for 3D models, textures, animations and interaction protocols is essential for enabling seamless interoperability. The development and adoption of interoperable standards present significant commercial opportunities. Companies such as Ready Player Me that create and promote these standards can become central to the Metaverse ecosystem, creating a universal avatar system that can be used across multiple virtual worlds, positioning itself as a key player in the interoperable Metaverse. Send me a DM for a copy of the full report. #metaverse #Interoperability #Blockchain #Web3

Here's a needed reminder (and warning) from FinTech Futures about how commonplace #deepfake scams are becoming as large language models (#LLMs) and #AI tech improves. AI-generation is becoming sophisticated at replicating human-like speech. Phone scams, fraudulent videos, and other types of scams are going to become more convincing to those who are unprepared. This article also highlights FinVolution, a fintech platform that has a focus on anti-fraud technologies in the Asian region. Right now, algorithm scientists are trying to spot #hoaxes by spotting the nuances and imperfections that come with AI voice cloning technology, basically digital forensics to help customers identify the artificial. I do truly mean it when I stress that AI, like other forms of technology, is ideologically neutral. In the same way that plenty of smart innovators are utilizing AI for good, there are also bad faith actors misusing AI for their own nefarious purposes. So, even though we live in an exciting time for generative AI, lets also remember to practice caution and use our better judgement to protect ourselves from #scams, #misinformation, and #fraud caused by deepfake technology.

🫣AI Reality Check: Separating Hype from Reality As someone who's passionate about Applied AI, I follow the latest developments in the field every single day. 📰A recent WSJ article points out some realities about the current state of generative AI innovation. (article link in comments) The pace of improvement in generative AI (GenAI) is slowing, and its usefulness is limited by the high cost of running it. With companies having already trained their models on most of the internet, finding new data to improve them is becoming increasingly difficult. And, even the best proprietary AI models are converging on similar scores, making generative AI a commodity. The article highlights three key challenges: 1️⃣ Data limitations: We're running out of data to train AI models, and synthetic data won't fill the gap. 2️⃣ Costly to run: AI models are expensive to run, eating into company margins and making it difficult for startups to sustain. 3️⃣ Limited headcount impact: As I constantly talk about, AI is a task killer not a job killer. Thus, it's unlikely to reduce payroll costs to offset the costs of adding this tech to their environment. (Companies are scapegoating AI with layoff announcements. I will write about this soon.) 🚨Business Value Creation The answer lies in hardcore focus on creating value with AI! One powerful path is to build secondary models that amplify the impact of AI, making it more accessible and affordable for businesses and governments. A secondary model makes AI more useful and actionable for a specific industry or application. It’s like an expert in your field, who has spent years learning and understanding the intricacies of your business or mission. The expert provides valuable insights and guidance, helps you to make better decisions, optimize your operations, improve customer experience, drive revenue, and more. 🛠️Applied AI Examples 🏦In financial institutions, secondary models can capture regulatory requirements, risk management policies, and customer data to facilitate the development of Al-powered solutions for fraud detection, credit scoring, and customer service. 🏥 In healthcare, secondary models can integrate electronic health records, patient data, and clinical guidelines to support the development of Al-powered solutions for disease diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient outcomes tracking. By using secondary model architectures, we can unlock the potential of AI, with genuinely useful AI solutions. ⚠️If you’re building software, don’t build general use capabilities! It’s a waste of your time and money. Big tech already owns that space and is developing so fast that you’ll be caught up to and crushed. The riches are in the niches! 🔔Bottom line, let’s build practical AI solutions that drive real value, rather than chasing the hype. #AppliedAI #SecondaryModels #PracticalAISolutions #innovation

I've had the privilege to interact with several Apex Fusion core team members, and they are all "ninjas." Seriously, though, they all have PhDs, are professors at top-tier universities, and/or are widely respected in their fields. Hell! I've heard #CharlesHoskinson speak highly of them and praise their contributions to the top networks in the #blockchain space. This is what he told #cryptocrow in a recent interview: "Apex Fusion seems to have put together the best of four blockchains. They’ve taken things from #Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polygon Labs, and #Cardano.” For this and many, many more reasons, I am pleased to publish all their announcements and information. Read it on TH3FUS3! #crypto #web3 #interoperability, Ravi Chamria, Zeeve
