What are the common pitfalls and challenges of brand development in a dynamic and competitive market?
Brand is your reputation and what you stand for. For example, think of these two people: Your mom. Your best friend. Now, think of these two companies: Starbucks. Nike. For both humans & brands, you have a sense for what they're like & who they are. Most brands try to be "brand consistent." But you can't truly be brand consistent because everybody means something different to everyone. Even siblings look at their mom differently even though there's "consistency" there. Brand is reputation. But brand will land with people differently. This is why figuring out how to build brand on social media is so important because it lets you create relevance at scale, and be contextual to many different audience segments at scale.

The Thank You Economy
Harper Studios
The Thank You Economy is about something big, something greater than any single revolutionary platform. It isn't some abstract concept or wacky business strategy—it's real, and every one of us is doing business in it every day, whether we choose to recognize it or not. It's the way we communicate, the way we buy and sell, the way businesses and consumers interact online and offline.

But the Soviet Union-born, New Jersey-bred marketing guru can also point to results, starting with WineLibrary.com, the e-commerce site he launched for his parents’ wine shop in 1996, before he even owned a computer. “I understood people were going to buy wine on the Internet,” said Mr. Vaynerchuk, who eventually increased the store’s overall sales to more than $50 million from $3 million.
Meanwhile, VaynerMedia, the social-marketing agency he founded in 2009, and which counts Pepsi and General Electric among its clients, is set to top $50 million in revenue this year."

"Vaynerchuk has created two successful companies; he is a bestselling author; he can command six-figure fees for speaking engagements; and he has 1.1 million Twitter followers. But he is largely unknown to the American television-viewing public. Rather, he is Internet famous. That fame happened by design and by years of meticulous planning—and it has drawn vocal critics for a style that is loud, bombastic and blatantly self-promotional. (A sample exhortation from a video commanding people to…

"Mr. Vaynerchuk is not shy about embracing the title because he is not shy about anything. A small and kinetic man with dark hair that is starting to gray, he speaks with a warm, raspy voice, as though he’s been talking all day, which he usually has. He is funny and profane and gesticulates constantly, putting air quotes around phrases that he merely wants to emphasize. Among this favorite subjects are the New York Jets, which he has vowed to buy, and his own talents, which amaze even…

Among this favorite subjects are the New York Jets, which he has vowed to buy, and his own talents, which amaze even him.
“I have as big of an ego as it gets,” he said during a recent interview, in a tone suggesting that he was simply stating the facts, “but I have, stunningly, a lot of humility considering some of the accomplishments I’ve had.”
These accomplishments include the building of VaynerMedia, which opened in 2009 and now has 290 employees, serving clients as mainstream as Del Monte, General Electric and PepsiCo. They come in the hope that Mr. Vaynerchuk can do for them what he has already done for himself: build an online audience through pluck, ubiquity and charm."
