July 1st is here and for DoD projects managers, it's time to put on your fiscal superhero capes because we're entering the 4th quarter! This is the time when the budget starts feeling a little tight and we have to make sure our teams have enough funds to finish the fiscal year. 📈💰 But fear not! Here are a few tips to get through the next couple of months: 1️⃣ Pullbacks: If you find something on your schedule that absolutely won’t get executed by end of FY24, request your sponsor to pull those funds back with the goal re-issung those funds as FY25 dollars. 2️⃣ Trim the fat: Look at these next 90 days and figure out where you can cut some cost while still successfully executing your project. Instead of those 3 separate trips overseas, see you can combine those into one or two trips. 3️⃣ Acceleration: Maybe there is some lab testing you can accelerate into the next 90 days to ensure you can keep some additional dollars rolling in & will allow you to keep your team intact through til Sep 30th! Before your financial manager starts questioning your next 90 days, let’s get this 4th quarter planned out and finish strong! What is Data Readiness? Reposting and amplifying my comment to highlight two points about CORAS: First, CORAS maps to Department of the Navy Chief Information Officer (DON CIO) Information Superiority Vision 2.0 uniquely by securely optimizing a range of bread-and-butter PEO and PM decisions: POM, UFRs, divestments, modernization, data call response, program oversight, S&T portfolio management… This makes current data orders of magnitude more useful for each decisions. Our SmartLane, SmartList, SmartBoard, AI NLP, What If, Driver Trees, and Data Chain features are interconnected in a matrix of value that grows the more you use it. Second, CORAS also creates rich new data, making a new class of decisions available. This includes our AI and ML and applies especially to complex data-to-decision workflows such as mission thread development, Agile Combat Employment, rapid tech insertion, SCRM, and Vanguard investments to cross the “valley of death.” CORAS SaaS does by of these things with a community of amazing and successful customers, and by building on what works already. Standard reporting tools like PowerBI and Qlik become even more useful, as CORAS gives the program workforce more tools to enrich and clarify the picture leaders want to see. Data Readiness is about optimizing data for the decisions you want to make, both bread-and-butter and more advanced stuff. The DoD CIO releases Fulcrum: The DoD IT Advancement Strategy today. Fulcrum supersedes the 2019 Digital Modernization Strategy and will ensure DoD continues to leverage the power of transformative change to deliver functional, scalable, sustainable, and secure 21st century solutions to the nation’s Warfighters. This new capstone strategy prioritizes user experience by ensuring that DoD’s IT capabilities are intuitive, combat ready from day one, and resilient in denied or degraded environments. Fulcrum is organized around four lines of effort that cut across the CIO’s Cyber, IT, C3, and Resourcing portfolios to provide interoperable, sustainable, and secure capabilities to our Nation’s warfighters and DoD’s enterprise business needs. - Line of Effort 1, focuses on initiatives to provide joint warfighting IT capabilities, - Line of Effort 2, modernizes information networks and compute capabilities to rapidly meet mission and business needs, - Line of Effort 3, improves IT governance to gain efficiencies and enable cost savings, and - Line of Effort 4, continues to advance efforts to develop the premier digital workforce.
