Upgrades would be made to the taxiway airfield markings and airfield signs, and portions of the taxiway would be repaved for safe maneuvering from the active runway to the hangar and fuel farm. The parallel taxiway would be repaved with four inches of runway- grade, bituminous asphalt and the hangar apron would be reconstructed with ten inches of reinforced concrete pavement. New underground electric lines would be placed within a conduit, and minor grading and drainage would be included. A deer fence would be installed around the airfield perimeter to minimize the danger that grazing deer pose to aircraft, especially operating in hours of reduced visibility. Additionally, the Proposed Action would remove or trim trees and shrubs on PAAF that violate the primary surface, approach-departure clearance surface, transitional surface, taxiway clearance, and apron clearance safety areas. Because some of the areas where tree and shrub management would occur are within forested wetlands, three alternatives were developed with differing impacts to jurisdictional wetlands.
