Hoop hurray! Shall we thank them now, or if this ever gets passed and wriitten rightly into law? Enviornmentally speaking, time is ticking. Urgently, and with every passing hour, more obscenely. It is unbelievable to me that we are knocking the 1.5 degree, and STILL have fashion operating freely? Serious obsenity. Legislation is obscenely negligent in protecting as this entitlement of system is not very speedy. In exception of course to the recent EU passing against greenwashing. This law managed to crawl up the mighty hill of unliklliness and passed unusually quickly. Not so for the whole of the fashion industry, All are accountable today for sustainable shifting. With the scientific news of Earths tipping points tipping… every choice after matters intentiy. We know who, and what is accountably harming. We know. Globally we see. Legislation is past due on acting and protecting. Decades have been lost to government foot dragging. To “the business” of running the industry of economy by “collectively” ignoring the science to keep this “growth” business model flowing. Regardless of the harm we are causing. Now the corals are bleaching. The world is watching. Act urgently and accountably. #Planetfirst is everything. 🌍👁

The topic of innovation is top of mind in the performance running shoe market – especially if you ask Nike, which has been widely criticized for having a lackluster product pipeline by analysts and the Street in recent months. But for Deckers chief executive officer Dave Powers, this isn’t an issue for its star running brand Hoka. Indeed, on the product front, Hoka is driving growth and consumer acquisition through innovative updates and new introductions across a diverse assortment of footwear. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) moved to prevent Tapestry, Inc.’s $8.5 billion acquisition of Capri Holdings Limited. Tapestry wants to strengthen its foothold in the fashion industry by acquiring Capri. kate spade new york and Coach offer affordable items called accessible luxury accessories. As per the FTC, the combined entity will have no reason to be price competitive, thus forcing Americans to pay more for these items. This will dissolve the competition for affordable handbags, while wage workers may lose their benefits and favourable working conditions. The new company will compete directly with European luxury brands like Burberry and Louis Vuitton. What are Tapestry's revenue expectations from the deal? Find out the retail giant's stand on the case in today's #SalestorrsNews150, news in 150 words. #retailindustry #luxurybrands #michaelkors Michael Kors Stuart Weitzman Versace Jimmy Choo

As they say: ‘The riches are in the niches.’ With its fourth acquisition in just over a year, FULLBEAUTY Brands is rapidly advancing on its mission to establish a plus-size fashion empire. The current market dynamics in direct-to-consumer brands have presented FullBeauty with a unique opportunity to not only enhance its existing business but also to actively target diverse shoppers in the $81 billion women’s plus market. Full Beauty’s niche-focused strategy is evident through the acquisition of plus apparel specialist Avenue, strategically positioning their brands to cater to a wide range of consumer demographics. From younger shoppers at Dia & Co and ELOQUII to a more mature audience at Catherines, FullBeauty is covering the full spectrum of the market with precision. It’s refreshing to witness such a clear brand strategy in action, especially during a time when many companies are aiming to broaden their appeal to a wider target audience. Kudos to FULLBEAUTY Brands for their focused approach in the ever-evolving fashion landscape. #fashion #retail #dtc #sales #plussizefashion #inclusivity #marketplaces #readytowear #linkedinpostsbymariopace Read more: https://lnkd.in/e_pEijEZ

Interesting read from Erica La Sala from Beauty Independent related to the Saks and Nieman merger. The question asked: What do you make of the Saks Fifth Avenue/Neiman Marcus deal? How will it impact the luxury beauty market? Will it strengthen the declining department store sector? According to Cristina Nuñez, "... the department store channel is a challenging one. Historically, it has been the main retail channel for luxury beauty brands given it is more suited for a higher price point. But with continued declines in traffic at department stores, the channel has proven to be a difficult place for luxury brands to rely upon for growth. Instead, growth is being driven at specialty retailers such as SEPHORA and Ulta Beauty, whose dominance has largely been at the expense of department stores". "At the end of the day, consumers will continue to shop for beauty at retailers offering best-in-class in-store experiences optimized for brand discovery. Brands should seek out these partners offering the best brand building support and a path to achieving scale. Perhaps the combination of Saks and Neiman Marcus will allow for a more enhanced retail experience overall that is even better suited for luxury beauty. Time will tell." True Beauty Ventures

I think the impact of these two industry luxury leaders will be very interesting to watch. This article focuses more on the beauty side, but there are many less obvious impacts this will have on multiple industries. Jewelry, apparel, accessories, marketing, the list goes on. When you take two known names and structure them to be more profitable and leverage the best of the branded and marketing teams, get ready for an explosion of growth potential. This will also add to an even further divide in the retail sector between department stores following the wealth division in the US. Naming the large department stores now, Saks Fifth Avenue/Neiman Marcus Group, Nordstrom, Dillard's Inc., Von Mauer, Macy's, JCPenney, Kohl's, then discounters.... not many national choices but they all have very focused demographic groups. Stay tuned!

Last week, Anne had to travel a little further than usual to go to the office 🇺🇸 Since ebp Global, whom we are a proud part of, has become a member of the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA), we now have the opportunity to participate in their events and conferences. So, along with Keith and Nanda from ebp, she went to the AAFA Global Supply Chain & Trade Conference in Portland, Oregon. There were a bunch of different speakers and topics covered. While on the topic of sustainability, one speaker mentioned that in his company they have decided that the best way to be compliant in the USA is to meet EU regulations. There are two reasons for this: One, different states are doing different things, and two, they are mostly copying the EU. Very interesting to consider, we think! 💡 Check out the picture to see some of the other topics on the agenda ⬇ #GlobalSupplyChainandTrade #Sustainability #EUGreenDeal

Fast-fashion retailers frequently make sustainability claims to alleviate consumer "eco-guilt," which are often ambiguous and can't be readily substantiated. But fast and ultra-fast fashion can never be sustainable due to the speed of turnover and items that are often binned after one wear.

It was the headline that caught my eye... ‘Has fashion become ageless?’ I scanned the article for evidence –middle-aged models on the runway, the obvious nod to our fashion elder Mrs Prada and other older icons dressed by Loewe, Burberry and Celine. Fashion designers, cool older women…if you're a consumer it's all good but how does it feel when you're working in the fashion industry and looking for a job? Does it feel ageless then? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Is your midlife fashion career collapsing? Read my latest blog (I'll put the link 🔗 in the comments) #midlife #career #fashion
