Awareness is the key to getting help. Going to events (onsite and remote) and even connecting with past coworkers/alumni can help. Most people want to help out a friend in need, but if they don't know you are looking, they can't keep a look out or refer you for positions.

Here's how you can discover job opportunities in a different industry.
Search for jobs with skills rather than job titles. Example: If you are an engineer, don't search with job titles, search with skills. You can put C# in the job search title sections of most job posting platforms. This will allow you to search for positions in other industries that match your skills but may have different titling. This works for most roles and industries. Lead with skills in your job search.

How do you approach discussing additional benefits during a job offer negotiation?
Request to speak to a benefits rep before accepting an offer. Most companies will allow you to talk to their insurance company/benefits point of contact so you can ask direct questions about medications/coverage and other questions specific to the coverage you and/or your family may need. Sometimes, they can provide you with an internal point of contact; other times, they can give you a 1-800 number to their provider.

What strategies can you employ to stand out among other candidates in a remote job interview process?
Remote jobs can get upwards of 200% more applications for jobs than onsite positions. You may have the very best of strategies that don't allow you to stand out simply due to the volume you are competing against. This isn't what you may want to hear but it's the truth. Don't let not getting selected or interviewed get YOU down. Remember this is a volume game. Remote job search will feel like you are getting more rejections because you are. You don't have to reshape your strategy with every rejection or change your resume. Don't let this become a YOU thing. It's an industry thing. Plan for 6-8 month job search for a remote job. If you need employment quickly, consider a pivot to onsite work.

They could be stretched too thin. Top employees are tapped for special projects, coaching others, testing features, interviewing, delivering in their regular role, providing feedback to critical organizational impact to new projects. Being viewed as a SME has its benefits, but has a higher risk of burnout. A good manager should have a soild understanding of how many directions their top employees are pulled in and make sure they don't sign them up for too much.

Update TB workflows to better align with TBPM processes. Eliminate the many steps involved updating various data input screens Build in processes to ingest TB eCRs and ELR data feeds Redevelop the Report of a Verified Case of TB (RVCT) process. Streamline the data extract Message Mapping Guide (MMG) for transmission to the CDC. The TBPM system is to replace the existing TBPM system built some 15 years ago, as workflows and processes have changed within the TB section, the tool used to track patients with TB hasn't kept up to date due to there not being a designated resource to keep up with these changing protocols. This has led to a system that no longer supports the day to day activities needed to be accomplished managing TB patients within Georgia. The current system has multiple tabs that split up the data entry into groups of information corresponding to the tabs heading. It is envisaged this way of organizing the various data grouping will stay the same in the rebuilt version. Current tab organization Epi Investigation - Additional Epi investigative information, genotyping, linking with a known case etc. Documents - supporting documentation upload area Imaging - Chest imaging results including type of image taken CT scan, MRI etc. Tests - Blood tests and results information with an upload function for the actual test report image. Diagnosis - Case verification status, Suspect, Not a case etc. CI - Contact Investigation Summary RVCT - This report gets built over time and once complete gets sent to the CDC. Patient - Patient Demographics, Address History etc. Assessment - Site of TB, previous diagnosis of TB and Risk factors Meds - TB Medications being taken DOT - Directly Observed Therapy and if treatment/meds stopped the reason why Susceptibility - Molecular Susceptibility Bacteriology - Drug susceptibility etc. MDR - Observes the side effects of the various prescribed medications.

FEEDBACK FROM THE HIRING MANAGER We all know how important it is when someone is preparing for an interview. You want to make sure you are ready to answer questions about your skills, job history and also know some background about the company you are interviewing with. It is important to make an impression on the hiring manager so that they see what you are capable of. It is also important to a candidate to get feedback from their interview, good or bad feedback gives the candidate the information they need to prepare for the next interview. Today, hiring managers are tasked with conducting interviews as well as gathering feedback, whether it is just from them or a team of interviewers. It can be a major task to gather feedback from 2 or 3 managers who have interviewed a candidate, but it is important, for both the candidate and the recruiter. Feedback gives the recruiter the information they need to adjust their search if necessary so that they don’t keep submitting the same candidates. Knowing what was missing on the interview helps a recruiter to adjust to the needs of the hiring manager Feedback gives the candidate information on whether to adjust their presentation skills, or their resume to reflect skills that they may have thought unimportant at the time. Feedback should not be something that a candidate or recruiter should be wary of, it is the information line that let’s them know if they are hitting the mark. Hiring managers, feedback does take some time to gather but in the end you will receive better candidates for your position if the recruiter knows what you are looking for. CONTRACT OR DIRECT HIRE-WHICH ONE IS RIGHT FOR YOU There are many different reasons to decide on whether you want to be a contractor or direct hire. Here are a few PROS and CONS for being a contractor PRO-you will be able to increase your hourly rate as a client will not be responsible for little or no administrative costs for you PRO- you will usually know when your assignment is going to end and you will have the added benefit or looking for your next contract while still working on your current one PRO-you get paid for all of the hours you bill, compared to being salaried and getting paid a weekly rate no matter how many hours you may put in. One of the biggest PROS with being a contractor is you are in control of your own schedule and work load. CON-as a contractor you are responsible for paying your own taxes and other fees that go along with that. CON-you will not be entitled to any benefits that the company you are contracting with has to offer. For example PTO, paid holidays, insurance, to name a few. CON-if you need health/dental/vision benefits and you are not on someone else’s plan, you will be responsible for paying for your coverage. As well as a lot of companies will want you have carry liability insurance, or be bonded. One of the biggest CONS is contractors are usually the first ones to go if there is a RIF. Here are a few PROS and CONS for being a salaried employee PRO-you will enjoy the benefits that the company has to offer. For example PTO, paid holidays, insurance, to name a few. PRO- your obligated deductions will be taken out of your paycheck for you. So you don’t have to worry about it. Its a lot easier to file your income taxes as well. PRO-you are entitled to certain protections that contractors are not, access to human resources, employment laws, the ability to qualify for unemployment benefits if you are released, etc. One of the biggest PROS is employees have more security, for the most part you know where your next paycheck is coming from CON- You fall into a chain of command where schedule and work load is dictated to you. CON- lower pay scale to offset the benefits. CON- your promotions and raises are controlled by management One of the biggest CONS is employees are more controlled, you are hired to do a job and are judged by the result of the work and sometimes have to live with things that are out of your control if you want to continue to be employed The decision to be a contractor or direct hire is something that you need to consider carefully before making your choice. As a contractor having a resume with a lot of short term jobs can sometimes keep hiring managers from looking further into your skills. Longevity is something that hiring managers are looking more at these days as they want people who want to grow with the company.
