Renewable Fuels Month highlights the importance of renewable biofuels, such as #ethanol and #biodiesel, especially for Nebraskans. The month of May marks the beginning of the summer driving season, making it an ideal time to fuel up on clean and cost-saving #biofuels. In 2023, thanks to ethanol blends of E10 and above, Nebraska drivers saved at least $325 million. The benefits extend from there, as according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, ethanol blends reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 43% compared to regular gasoline. The Ohio Agriculture Conservation Initiative (OACI) rolled out the findings of its 2023 Assessment Survey Report on practices being used by farmers in the Sandusky watershed to manage water and nutrients. The assessment results show ample conservation efforts, as well as areas for improvement and continued farmer education and resourcing by OACI. The survey results establish a baseline of adoption for various farming practices in the Sandusky watershed. The USDA announced its weekly export inspections at 10:00 CST for the week ending 6/06 #Corn export inspections were reported at 1.339 million metric tons, 77K under last week's 1.416 million tons exported. Still, Corn is around 8 million metric tons above last year's progress to date, 39.1 million compared to 31.1 million. #Soybeans are also down at 231K metric tons, a significant decrease from last week's 361K. Lastly, #Wheat saw decrease as well, reporting 352K this week, down from last week's 427K Overall, all three crops saw a decrease in last week's export numbers compared to the previous week. However, corn is still well above its exports from last year to date (though soybeans and wheat are still behind on this metric). Follow for more row crop updates!
