“Ahmad led a large and complex project, with open-ended goals and dozens of highly skilled research personnel. From how he conducted the all-hands regularly to keep everyone from the interns to the project leads updated and on the same page, to how detailed and meticulous he was in reviewing and helping research staff frame their problems in a milestone-centric way, he was key to how the project evolved and grew from a nascent research statement to deliverables and quantifiable accomplishments. Ahmad is keen on continuously measuring progress using meaningful metrics for the efforts he leads, and highly adaptable even when working with large teams of teams and ambiguous expectations. As a leader, he is approachable to everyone in his teams, and takes the time and effort to make sure that he knows every single person in his reporting hierarchy, and he makes it a point to stay up to date with what each team member brings to the table and how it can fit into the larger project. He is fast on the uptake, brings high-value technical experience and breadth, and doesn't hesitate to jump in with questions and suggest solutions or key resources. In particular, we had been facing delays in a specific milestone. Ahmad came to our subgroup meetings just once during this crisis, immediately grasped the situation and pointed out key infrastructural blocks that would be the first step in remedying the problem. It showed me how he blended together his technical knowledge and experience with his strong grasp of integration needs for a system with multiple dependencies. ”
