At Meta, we've just shared results from our first quarter of 2024. As Mark Zuckerberg said, “It’s been a good start to the year.” Here are some of the highlights; 🌎 We continue to see strong engagement across our apps, and estimate that more than 3.2 billion people use at least one of our apps each day. 🚀 Our investments in AI continue to pay off for advertiser performance. Revenue flowing through our AI-powered tools, Advantage+ Shopping and Advantage+ App Campaigns, has more than doubled since last year. 🎞️ On Instagram, Reels alone now makes up about 50% of time spent within the app. 👍 About 30% of the posts on Facebook feed are delivered by our AI recommendation system. That's up 2x over the last two years! And for the first time ever, more than 50% of the content people see on Instagram is AI recommended. 🤖 The initial rollout of Meta AI is going well, and tens of millions of people have already tried it. Over the long term, we believe that eventually, every business on our platform will use a business AI to help customers buy things and get customer support. 🧵Threads continues to see good traction and now has more than 150 million monthly actives. These results were made possible by the strength of our partners, communities we serve and teams working at Meta. I’m incredibly optimistic and excited about the investments we’re making to continue powering growth for businesses across the world.

📌 Pinterest Q1 earnings: our fastest user and revenue growth since 2021 📌 Last night we announced our latest earnings results. Quoting our CEO Bill Ready: We kicked off 2024 with a milestone Q1.   1️⃣ We passed the half a billion monthly active users mark (518M).  2️⃣ We achieved $740 million in revenue, an increase of 23 percent and nearly double the growth rate of the previous quarter.  3️⃣ Gen Z, our fastest growing and most engaged audience, is also our largest. All of this is largely driven by our investments in AI and the continuous value we’re creating for advertisers in the lower funnel, which reflects in successful performance campaigns. In Germany for example, when switching to direct links, C&A increased their outbound clicks by 130% and reduced cost per outbound click by 57%.

Meta reported Q1 2024 results yesterday, and as Mark shared, it’s been a good start to the year with healthy growth across our apps. Each day, an estimated 3.2 billion people use at least one of our apps. Threads is growing well too, with more than 150 million monthly actives.    Importantly, we’re making progress on our longer-term AI initiatives that have the potential to transform the way people interact with our services over the coming years. We believe that Meta AI, which began rolling out in Canada last week powered by our latest model, Llama 3, is the most intelligent AI assistant that you can use freely. Tens of millions of people have already tried it out.    Earlier this week, we also announced that Meta AI with Vision is rolling out on our Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in Canada and the U.S. in beta, helping people understand and interact with the world around them in new ways. It’s an awesome experience that shows new ways Meta AI can be helpful in day-to-day life.    On the Ads side, AI has always been a huge part of how we create value for advertisers by showing people more relevant ads. If you look at our two end-to-end AI powered tools, Advantage + Shopping and Advantage + App Campaigns, revenue flowing through those has more than doubled since last year.    In the coming years, we’re going to continue to focus on advancing state-of-the-art tech and making it accessible to everyone. We also plan to invest more in our infrastructure to develop even more advanced models and the largest scale AI services globally.

Criteo yesterday gave some feedback on their Privacy Sandbox testing. They are one of the companies testing the most intensive and already started testing in the early phase of the Privacy Sandbox. "If Google were to shut off third-party cookies today and implement the current version of the Privacy Sandbox, publishers would see their ad revenue on Chrome tank by around 60% on average." "Criteo also observed a more than 100% increase in load time for ads rendered on Sandbox traffic." "Privacy Sandbox creates an enormous advantage for Google’s advertising business, including putting Google Ad Manager in a position to boost its market share from 23% to 83%." Those results are pretty alarming. IAB Techlab yesterday released a second version of their Fit Gap Analysis showing some changes but still many major usecases not being supported in the future.
