We're at a tipping point. The link between social media's addictive features and the mental health crisis - one of the defining problems of our generation - is clear. And not only is it clear from the data, but it's clear because everyone feels it. Last week, we hosted a panel on social media addiction and the mental health crisis with Gen Z activists. We had over 100+ people come out on a Friday evening in the pouring rain to engage and learn how to solve this problem. People care immensely about this problem because it impacts them, but it also impacts everyone they care about: their friends, their brothers and sisters, their parents, their kids, their employees, their students - everyone is affected. Action like this is necessary to keep Big Tech in line and to stop the continued progress of these addictive algorithms. However, regulatory change won't happen overnight. In the meantime, BILLIONS of people are living with the negative consequences of these platforms and they need help today. At Present, we're focused on helping those people. https://lnkd.in/eMGUW2-h

Hard not to see Big Tech in the same way we viewed Big Tobacco back in the day. 1.) Company manufacturers a harmful product, 2.) Manufacturer knows the product is harmful and has internal research that proves it unequivocally, and 3.) Company intentionally seeks to make the product more addictive and thus more harmful. Since regulation of companies like Facebook is hard to pull off in the current business environment, maybe the answer will need to be a big class action lawsuit like the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement.

yes Jack!! I support this mission and am cheering you guys on.
