This topic goes deeper into the broad effects of our online presence. Knowing how to express the feelings of others helps in shaping the world of the web. It teaches us about the real people behind the screens and inspires us to approach technology compassionately. Digital citizenship is highlighted in "The Human Element of Privacy" - a regard to action for people to use the internet properly, ethically, and with a sense of shared duty. It shows the fact that our online activities have an impact not only on ourselves but also on the larger online community. #digitalcitizenship #empathymatters #responsibletech #prose

"In this episode of New Ideal Live, Elan Journo and Onkar Ghate discuss the cultural significance of two seemingly unrelated events: the bipartisan congressional hearings on online child safety and the conservative backlash to Taylor Swift’s relationship with Travis Kelce. They argue that the attacks on Mark Zuckerberg and on Swift’s successful businesses reveal a tribal mentality that hates the good for being the good. "Among the topics covered: -The true purpose of the online child safety hearing; -The Senate Committee’s shameful intimidation of Zuckerberg; -How Section 230 is used to hold tech companies liable for users’ criminal behavior; -Why the senators’ threats to control businesses are anti-law and anti-American; -How Republicans use anti-intellectual tactics to pass authoritarian controls; -How the hatred against Taylor Swift is driven by the same anti-success mentality; -The tribal misogyny aimed at Swift; -Why conspiracy fantasies seek political pandering, not the truth; -How Ayn Rand’s 'Age of Envy' can help combat today’s tribal trends." https://lnkd.in/g4-8PeiV

Digital rights are advocating for freedom of expression, right to associate, access to information and right to privacy. Intentionally disruption of internet access violets fundamentals for Digital Rights and its effects are beyond violation of Digital Rights because Internet is forth basic need after Food, Shelter and Clothes. There is no justification for shutting down the internet, think about a situation of not having internet at least for an hour in business, health and production where internet is working infrastructure and what impacts would this have in these sectors? #digitalrightstz #keepiton #beonline

Algorithms, plain language & bias: Senator Markey and Representative Doris Matsui introduced the Algorithmic Justice and Online Platform Transparency Act, which would require online platforms to describe in plain language the algorithmic processes they use and the information they collect. The main concern seems to be bias: "Biased algorithms can deepen inequalities and direct content away from people based on race, gender, disability, and other protected characteristics." Experts at many organizations have already announced their support: Institute for Advanced Study, Access Now, Center for Digital Democracy, Color Of Change, Common Cause, Common Sense Media, Consumer Reports, FREE PRESS ACTION FUND, Electronic Privacy Information Center, Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, National Hispanic Media Coalition, Public Citizen, Public Knowledge® https://lnkd.in/eGcXQGiF.
