General Contractor Dellbrook | JKS recently brought their interns on a site tour of WinnCompanies’ upcoming community, The Elmwood in Shrewsbury, MA! The Elmwood will bring 93 mixed-income apartment homes to the Town of Shrewsbury, providing housing stability and economic opportunity to the community. WinnCompanies Boston Team Members came together to volunteer and support our staff at Nuestra Communidad's Annual Family Day in Roxbury, MA! Our team helped set up tents and family friendly entertainment for all ages. Residents were also able to learn more about the different community resources available to them during the event as well. WinnCompanies Vice President of Energy and Sustainability Christina McPike recently participated in the panel discussion, “Equitable Transit Oriented Development Financing and Location Efficient Housing as a Climate Strategy,” at the USDOT Transportation and Climate Symposium in Washington, D.C. Christina shared WinnDevelopment’s expertise and leadership in creating equitable, low-carbon, transit-oriented developments and location-efficient housing, including The Westcott in Swampscott, MA, and The Exchange, in Salem MA. Both of these projects will create 234 units of transit oriented housing, serving as real, high impact examples of the Healey-Driscoll Administration and its Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities’ leadership in effective housing and climate policy. Recently Pequot Highlands, WinnCompanies’ community in Salem, MA, held its annual resource fair partnering with local and state agencies, including North Shore Community College, the City of Salem, MBHP/Carelon, Pathways Family Resource Center, DTA, AgeSpan, Best Home Health Care and Comcast. Partners provided residents with information about education, health benefits, mental health, voter registration and more. Check out photos from the fair below!

WinnCompanies played against the Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) in a friendly softball game yesterday at the Teddy Ebersol Field along the Charles River in Boston! Our Boston team members were able to connect with our peers in affordable housing and engage in some friendly competition with a recreational slow pitch softball game. We look forward to playing a second game with POAH in August!

Stone Mill Lofts, an 86-unit adaptive reuse development in Lawrence, MA, was recently featured in The Boston Globe Media, highlighting the retrofitted community’s green features. WinnDevelopment’s Vice President of Energy and Sustainability Darien Crimmin speaks on the implementation of strategies that tackle both the state’s housing and climate challenges. The project is WinnDevelopment’s first all-electric, combustion-free historic adaptive reuse project, utilizing air to water heat pump and high-efficiency VRF technology. In addition to its sustainability innovations, 80 percent of the apartment will be designated for residents who make less than 60 percent of Area Median Income (AMI). WinnDevelopment Senior Vice President David Ginsberg was recently featured in the July edition of the Novogradac & Company LLP Journal of Tax Credits as part of a story about “Rising Stars and Dealmakers.” David has been with Winn for 12 years, starting his career as an intern for WinnDevelopment and climbing up the ladder to the position of SVP, which he has held for five years. David has been leading development projects in New Jersey, creating affordable housing for veterans, grandparents raising children and other communities in need of housing in the Garden State.
