Safety is our top priority at Vigor, and something we focus on every minute of every day. Thank you to Shipbuilders Council of America for recognizing this, and importantly to our employees: your commitment ensures everyone who comes to Vigor leaves the same way they arrived. https://lnkd.in/gQ6cnJkj
About us
We build fishing boats, tugs, ferries, barges, fireboats, high performance combatant crafts and a variety of aluminum workboats. Our shipbuilding experts live for the challenge of delivering new vessels on time and on budget. If it floats, we repair it. From small fishing boats to the country’s largest catcher processors, from basic barges to state-of-the-art articulated tug and barge sets, from offshore supply vessels to floating drill rigs, and from aircraft carriers to cruise ships, Vigor’s ship repair teams can tackle any repair project, where our customers need us, when they need us. We fabricate heavy, high complexity projects from structural bridge girders to nuclear containment devices, from dam lift gates to space launch complex towers. We love to build. The tighter tolerance and the more complex the better. We're privately owned and publicly minded. We value training, hard work, and smart thinking. We hold every employee accountable for success: theirs, ours, and our customers. We minimize barriers and respond quickly to market conditions and customers' needs. We're serious about safety and environmental stewardship. Our companies share a common goal: providing world-class maritime and industrial services to support our customers and strengthen the communities where we live and work. Vigor: Industrial Evolution.

Juneteenth is a monumental day in our history, but one which reminds us the work to ensure equity and inclusivity are available to all is ongoing. Vigor remains committed to advancing equity and being a positive force in our communities.
#OnThisDay in 1865, General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, TX, to read Order No. 3, which affirmed the end of slavery in the states of the former Confederacy. This momentous occasion has been celebrated as #Juneteenth — a combination of "June" and "19th" — for over 150 years. Though President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, issued on January 1st, 1863, freed all enslaved people in the Confederacy, its announcement and enforcement relied upon the presence of Union troops, including members of the United States Colored Troops. Although some were aware of the implementation of the Emancipation Proclamation, it wasn't enforced by the Union Army in Galveston, TX, until June 19th, 1865. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of ending slavery in the United States. Today, annual Juneteenth celebrations include family reunions, religious sermons, barbecues, and much more. Two years ago, President Joe Biden opened the signing of Juneteenth into law as a federal holiday with these words: "Juneteenth marks both the long, hard night of slavery and subjugation, and a promise of a brighter morning to come." Two of Vigor's own at Swan Island were awarded a Medal of Honor by Portland Fire & Rescue this week, for their quick, selfless actions which likely saved another worker's life last year. Derek and Shawn exemplified our Love value and we are grateful for their commitment to the health and safety of everyone around them.

Our highly-skilled fabrication team in Clackamas and Portland recently completed a complex project that will serve one of the busiest transportation corridors in the U.S. The 400-foot long and 80-foot high east span of the Portal Bridge is part of a larger crossing from New Jersey to New York which has seen up to 450 rail crossings moving more than 200,000 people every day. The 100 family wage jobs created at Vigor to support this project means hundreds of thousands more people can get to work, family and everywhere else they need to go.
