U.S. Department of Transportation reposted this
FHWA Administrator Shailen Bhatt joined Governor Kay Ivey, Mayor Sandy Stimpson, and other Congressional, state and local officials in Mobile to announce a $550 million grant award to the Alabama Department of Transportation under the Bridge Investment Program for the Mobile River Bridge and Bayway Project that includes construction of a new six-lane bridge across the Mobile River to supplement the Wallace Tunnels crossing underneath the river and replacement of the existing Bayway Bridge. The new bridges will help eliminate a major bottleneck for area residents and freight traveling through the tunnels along Interstate 10, a critical corridor for the country—leading to improved economy, safety, reliability, and mobility for everyone.
