We hosted a screening of “ALOK,” a documentary short that explores the life of UTA client Alok Vaid-Menon, whose career spans activism, poetry, comedy, literature, fashion, and public speaking. The screening was followed by a Q&A with Alok, director Alex Hedison, and executive producer Jodie Foster. The film premiered at Sundance earlier this year, and is an official selection for multiple 2024 film festivals, including Palm Springs International Short Fest and Frameline. UTA Proud organized the event, with UTA Proud leaders Donny Mac (Director, Sales Operations) and Pranav Mandavia (Agent, UTA Creators) among those from UTA in attendance. 📷: Roger Kisby

“I discovered my love of reading, like most kids do, when a book captured my imagination for the first time,” says UTA Publishing Agent Gráinne Fox. Earlier this year, we caught up with Fox to discuss how she translated her deep love of reading into an impressive literary career. Already this year she’s helped publish some of 2024’ buzziest novels, including “You Are Here” by David Nicholls (which was just announced as a 2024 Fallon Book Club Summer Pick!), the critically acclaimed “The Memo,” by Rachel Dodes and Lauren Mechling, and “The Husbands” by Holly Gramazio (an instant New York Times Best-Seller). Read Fox’s wide-ranging interview — including what draws her to certain novels, how her literary tastes have changed over time and what she’d name her biography, if she ever wrote one — here. https://lnkd.in/gkCYNKzg

“We want [our athletes] to keep their eyes on the prize, but also we want them to be able to utilize the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of a global stage like the Olympics,” Fara Leff (Partner & Chief Operating Officer, KLUTCH SPORTS GROUP, LLC) tells Deadline Hollywood about how KLUTCH and UTA agents are helping clients scale their presence at the Paris Games. With people planning to consume Olympics content on more distribution channels than ever, from streaming to social media, this year’s games provide clients of all disciplines — from creators to broadcasters to athletes — a unique opportunity to expand their reach and grow their audiences. With UTA’s Ryan Hayden (Co-Head of News & Broadcasting and Co-Head of Sports Media), Leff speaks to Deadline about how they’re leveraging new data from UTA IQ, our research and analytics arm, about Olympics content consumption to maximize opportunities for clients. Led by our client Daisy Edgar-Jones, “Twisters” brought in $81.2M at the domestic box office this weekend, making it one of the year’s biggest debuts. It’s also the top domestic opening ever for a natural disaster film, not adjusted for inflation. The film follows Edgar-Jones’ character, Kate, after she’s lured back to Tornado Alley to test a new weather tracking system. There she crosses paths with a charming but seemingly reckless social media stormchaser (Glen Powell). IndieWire highlights Edgar-Jones’ performance, saying she “deliver[s] classic amblin thrills in one of the most satisfying movies of the summer.” Other client involvement includes actors Maura Tierney and Paul Scheer, unit production manager Nathan Kelly and second unit director Mike Gunther.

Megan Moroney calls her sound “emo cowgirl country,” and fans can’t get enough. Earlier this year, she racked up the most nominations of any woman at the Academy of Country Music Awards, taking home Best New Female Artist. She also performed at Stagecoach, CMA Fest, Hangout Music Fest and is currently opening for Kenny Chesney on his “Sun Goes Down” tour. To celebrate the release of her sophomore studio album “Am I Okay?” — released last Friday and already at #3 on the US Apple Music charts — Moroney sat down with The New York Times to talk about how her college years provided her with great song material, her work ethic in the studio and more.
