Just about everyone in USG is in various stages of assessing AI tools. The Executive Order on AI made it clear that folks need to move out and adopt AI in it's various forms. There's also the AI inventory of the current and projected AI-related projects that the various executive branch agencies (except DoD) are working. But here's the question many are asking: "how do we judge them?" We have some thoughts, shared in this quick blog post.

On Day 3 of the STEM Mavericks AI program, students are becoming comfortable using different types of sensors and writing code to ensure their functionality. We are excited to see the level of engagement and how quickly students are picking up these skills. The STEM Mavericks AI program is designed and developed by Trenchant Analytics, LLC and the Department of Defense (DoD) Digital Futures Initiative through the DoD Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO). #STEM #AI

The Army recently awarded TAC a SBIR to build the Army Tech Marketplace (ATM). Given our experience building AcqBot.com, we're stoked to start on this effort. As with any development effort, and in the spirit of George Heilmeier, we want to be clear about the problem we're trying to solve. In the spirit of killing two birds with one stone, we're going to share our thoughts an insights in public so that the community can benefit and comment. Why? because the ATM will be a platform for the government and industry S&T, R&D, and AT&L community to do their jobs better, faster, and cheaper, so we're not going to build it in a vacuum. Feel free to agree, disagree, comment, opine, this is an open forum.

There are few efforts that add more lasting and compounding value to the Department than investments in early education and engagement. The challenges facing the nation are only growing greater and more complex. The people we need to address those challenges in the future are gaining an understanding of the technology and operational context today, in a fun and engaging experience through our STEM Mavericks initiative, in partnership with the DoD Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office and New Mexico State University PSL - Physical Science Laboratory The objective is simple: Get Students interested in DefTech early The outcome is simple: Get more bright minds supporting our national security
STEM Mavericks comes to NMSU as a partnership between Trenchant Analytics and PSL, who are both stakeholders in the Department of Defense (DoD) Digital Futures Initiative through DoD’s Chief Digital AI Office (CDAO). The CDAO became operational in June 2022 and is dedicated to integrating and optimizing artificial intelligence capabilities across the DoD. The office is responsible for accelerating the DoD's adoption of data, analytics, and AI, enabling the Department's digital infrastructure and policy adoption to deliver scalable AI-driven solutions for enterprise and joint use cases, safeguarding the nation against current and emerging threats. The Digital Futures initiative works to expand digital talent management across the DoD enterprise: increasing the hiring, training and retention for the most critical data, analytics and AI related work roles. Just last week, CDAO representative Clay James had the opportunity to visit the camp, where he both spoke and observed its activities firsthand. Trenchant Analytics, LLC

Loved this candid conversation with my colleague and friend, Vince Pecoraro, about taking a mission-driven approach to contracting on today's Defense Mavericks #podcast drop. We dove into: 1️⃣ The need for faster delivery of product to the warfighter 2️⃣ The role of industry in lowering barriers to entry 3️⃣ Why a “burning platform” accelerates action 4️⃣ The cultural shift required for speed 5️⃣ The impact of collaborating with the end user And so much more. This episode will leave you feeling re-inspired about the work we do. Check out the link in the comments! 🎙️
