"If Not Me, Then Who..."

About us

Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) empowers veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop character in future generations. In 2007, 1st Lt Travis Manion (USMC) was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis' legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, "If Not Me, Then Who..." Guided by this mantra, veterans and survivors continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation's heroes live on in the next generation.

In a world where it can feel like there's not enough light, our TMF Veteran Mentors across the country are proving otherwise! The TMF Southeast region made a huge impact on nearly 200 kids at the 'Flapjacks and Backpacks' Back to School event at USO Fort Campbell, showing them how much they matter. They fed them, laughed with them, learned about them, encouraged them, danced with them, and taught them about the character strength "love of learning." Eva Nicol from USO Fort Campbell shared, "My favorite part of this event is seeing the faces of the children as they get the backpacks. It brings a lot of our community members together, and we've got several sponsors who make this a huge, impactful event right before school season."

18 years ago today, Spc. Andrew Velez lost his life while serving in Afghanistan. This devastating loss came just two years after his brother, Cpl. Jose A. Velez, made the ultimate sacrifice while serving overseas. Their sister, Monica, faced unimaginable grief but chose to channel her pain into purpose. Determined to honor her brothers' legacies, Monica has dedicated herself to community service through Travis Manion Foundation. As a Character Does Matter mentor, she has empowered countless youth and extended her reach to communities both nationally and internationally. Monica's commitment to honoring the legacies of her two brothers is evident in her various roles with TMF. From empowering youth as a TMF Mentor to making a positive impact in her community of Austin, TX through leading service projects, she continues the selfless service her brothers exemplified, making a profound impact on those she serves. #IfNotMeThenWho
