Whenever I talk air travel and share my airline reviews with my Have Wheelchair Will Travel community one topic comes up, wheelchairs being accommodated in the cabin of the plane. As I mentioned earlier this week, many of my readers are unable to travel on a plane because of their need for specialised seating. It's a hot topic in disability media but doesn't get much air-time in mainstream media so I was thrilled when Chris Chamberlin from Point Hacks told me he would be writing a story about Delta's new seat concept and asked me for my thoughts. Not only is Delta looking at a seating solution but also how to better transport wheelchairs in the cargo hold so there is less damage in the future. The biggest fear for any wheelchair user is arriving at their destination and finding that their wheelchair is damaged. Thanks Chris, I hope this raises more awareness in the wider community about the challenges of air travel for many people with a disability. #tourismforall #airtravel #disability #airforall #disabilityawareness

Attention: The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the rest of this week and into next week with temperatures in the upper 90s and 100s. These temperatures put many of our neighbors without shelter in particular danger of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Key to Home and the City of Oklahoma have put out a list of cooling stations. These are places you can go to get out of the heat. Signs of Heat Exhaustion include: • Feeling faint or dizzy • Excessive sweating • Cool, pale, clammy skin • Nausea or vomiting • Rapid , weak pulse • Muscle cramps Please call 9-1-1 if the person is exhibiting the following signs of Heat Stroke: • Has a throbbing headache • Is NOT sweating • Has a body temperature above 103 and red, hot, dry skin • Is nauseous or vomiting • Has a rapid, strong pulse • Loses consciousness IF YOU EXHIBIT ANY OF THESE SIGNS OR FEEL TOO HOT OR TIRED, PLEASE GO INTO A PUBLIC PLACE AND ASK FOR HELP. HAVE SOMEONE CALL 9-1-1 AND ASK FOR COOL WATER TO SIP. DON’T WAIT TO GET HELP. IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE!

Being homeless is not a crime. No one should be punished for sleeping outside, especially when they have nowhere else to lay their head.
