  • JT's final principle for success is Attention to Detail. JT says, "Throughout my various careers, I learned time and time again that my best intentions can be majorly derailed by the slightest missed detail. In any workplace, a lack of attention to detail can cause big issues downstream, including wasted time for our fellow advisors, missed sales opportunities, and ultimately disappointed clients! Details certainly matter at all levels, but I can argue that details are more important the farther 'upstream' we are in the process, as they can positively or negatively affect exponentially more of our associates and customers! To truly make a difference, we must do it."

  • Jt's third principle of success is Personal Organization. He says, "In the fast-paced, constantly-changing world we all live in and work in, having systems in place to meet deadlines and maintain priorities are critical. Despite this being a 'personal' focus area, mastery or struggle in this area will most certainly affect others and reflect on our collective efforts. I strive to never end my day without constructing a vision or plan for the following day. As such, each new day starts with intent and purpose, yet I have also learned to go with the flow and not let disruptions set me back. We should always stay positive and reshuffle as needed, and never forget that our people are always priority #1. Despite our own deadlines and tasks, remember that were all in it together, and being personally organized also means being a good teammate. Thus, mastering our own personal organization goes a long way in determining our personal and collective success."

He says, "In one of my former roles as a District Manager at Kroger, one of my favorite reminders to my store manager was: 'you run your store. Don't let your store run you.' That is to say, we are all in charge (for the most part) of our time. Tasks get delegated down to us. Meetings pop up or run long. Email is constant. The phone rings. People need our time and attention. All of this comes with being an important part of our organization. But a quick personal evaluation will reveal that the vast majority of our time is indeed ours. Own it! Seize it! Control the controllable and dominate the time we have."
