We recently hosted #TeamThorlabs members from around the world at our second annual Technical Excellence Awards, created to recognize global engineering excellence within the organization! In total, 11 finalist teams were selected over four categories ranging from manufacturing and production engineering to research projects. The event began with an internal technical conference and networking event and concluded with the announcement of the winners during an awards gala at the Liberty House on June 20 in the presence of the executive leadership team, including Thorlabs’ President, Jenn Cable, and Founder and CEO, Alex Cable. Congratulations to all of the winners!

Thorlabs' new turnkey laser system seamlessly incorporates our DFB1550P distributed feedback laser into a user-friendly benchtop housing! The integrated laser driver electronics are engineered to minimize electrical noise, ensuring the laser achieves exceptionally low relative intensity noise (RIN) as well as its specified narrow linewidth. A fiber isolator is integrated at the laser output to reduce the impact of back-reflected light. We’re travelling to Michigan for this month’s #ThorlabsWorldwide! Based in Ann Arbor, Thorlabs Ultrafast Optoelectronics (UFO) specializes in high-speed optoelectronic products such as transmitters, lasers, and detectors that have bandwidths as high as 110 GHz. The UFO team designs, develops, and manufactures products ranging from basic components to instrumentation and subsystems. Many of their products are used in the fiber-optic communication industry! Ann Arbor is also home to the University of Michigan, which many UFO team members share a connection with. #DidYouKnow The UFO team has had a new employee start on every North American eclipse day since 2014? Introducing Thorlabs' new vacuum-compatible dovetail translation stage! Suitable for vacuum applications requiring pressures down to 10-6 Torr, this stage provides a travel range of 1” (25 mm) with 0.04" (1.0 mm) travel per revolution of the adjuster. A precision rolled M6 x 1.0 mm pitch leadscrew allows for smooth linear positioning along the entire range of travel, while the side locking plate guards against accidental movement. To complete your vacuum system setup, we offer vacuum-compatible breadboards, optical ports, and other components.
