About us

Talbots began from a singular & personal vision, inspired by a joy of discovery and fueled by a commitment to timeless and timely fashion, extraordinary quality and memorable service.   In 1947, Rudy and Nancy Talbot, two passionate and entrepreneurial New Englanders, put an ad in The New Yorker. And what started out as 3000 fliers ultimately became a catalog with a cult following—treasured for its spirited voice and modern classic product. Soon they moved into an historic Hingham, Massachusetts, house where they painted the front door a welcoming red to signal that here was an oasis of inspiration and hospitality.   Through the decades, Talbots has expanded beyond New England and developed a devoted following of smart shoppers who rely on gracious service, great quality, timeless pieces—and Talbots famous "surprise and delight."   Today Talbots is a dynamic combination of heritage and innovation, translating the original Talbots DNA for today's culture. Our omni-channel expression includes 500 core and outlet stores, throughout the country and Canada, and a growing e-commerce business.   Learn more about Talbots visit talbots.com/aboutus

From mentoring others to supporting a vibrant team culture, Gloria is enriching Talbots with her positivity and relationship-based leadership. Get to know more about her! 👇 Gloria is a Training Store Manager and Market Manager for Talbots. She lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband and three wonderful daughters. Gloria believes in appreciating people's unique experiences outside of work to cultivate a supportive culture and develop well-rounded leaders. "I often share that I didn't just choose Talbots five years ago, I choose Talbots EVERY DAY! We acknowledge each other's wholeness, knowing each of us is more than our roles within the brand. We are more than leaders or associates: each of us is a daughter/son, mother/father, grandmother/grandfather, friend, and confidant. While we understand our careers are important, we know our experiences outside of work enrich the power of our leadership." When asked what makes her most excited about the impact she's had at Talbots, Gloria cited leadership. "Throughout my time at Talbots, I have been able to stretch my leadership by becoming a mentor, Talent Scout, and Market Manager over two locations and later three. While I have worn many hats in my five years with the brand, I must say, my favorite has been since my promotion to Training Store Manager! Having the opportunity to work alongside such inspiring leaders who lock arms not just to develop new tools and resources for leaders across the organization but to protect and nurture the culture of our brand is unmatched." A few of Gloria's favorite things outside of work? Time with her husband, daughters, nephews, and nieces. This summer, you can find them reaching new heights on their trampoline, binge-watching Harry Potter, and hosting at-home dance parties. Glad you’re part of #LifeAtTalbots, Gloria!

Get to know Kaytie, a fashion enthusiast who works as a Flagship Visual Manager overseeing visual strategy at Talbots stores in Pennsylvania. 15 years strong with Talbots, Kaytie has grown her career by taking on new challenges to continually develop her skills. "I enjoy influencing others and inspiring them to reach their goals. If there’s one thing I’ve learned that others can take with them on their journey, it’s that if an opportunity scares you, it means you’re growing and evolving. Take the leap of faith." And Kaytie credits the culture at Talbots for contributing to her growth. "I love that Talbots challenges me to be better every day and pushes me towards my goals," she says. She continues to choose Talbots because of the strong connections among teams. "I’ve made many long-lasting relationships with the brand that turned into lifelong friendships." Visual Operations Managers like Cassidy ensure Talbots stores look exceptional. From updating seasonal floor sets to creating eye-catching window displays, Visual Operations Managers are all about the details. “I take so much pride in how my store looks, and I put so much love and effort into every floor set I do,” said Cassidy. Cassidy’s role extends beyond her store. She travels to stores within her California district to support her fellow Visual Operations Managers. When asked what impact she’s most proud of in her role, Cassidy said, “I’m happy I can impact other operation managers and help them grow in their role. I help lead operational calls within our district that are devoted to our OPS managers and key holders. It’s fun; we can get together and discuss everything operational and visual. I really enjoy traveling and helping out other stores.”  Cassidy appreciates the close-knit culture at Talbots. She explains, “Talbots feels like a family; when we come into work, we have such a great comradery that we’re excited to be there.” Cassidy loves movies! “As you’re making choices in your career, these two questions are good to keep in mind: 'Can I add value?' and 'Can I learn something?'” says Barbara Wagner, Chief Merchandising Officer at Talbots. Last week, Barbara participated in a panel on career development hosted by our iRise associate resource group at Talbots headquarters. Moderated by Giana Grimaldi, Marketing Manager, Brand & Content, the conversation focused on career advice, leading with kindness, and lessons learned from a career in retail. Barbara shared that her leadership style is “showing up for my group and our organization in a way that comes back to kindness, optimism, and being very focused on driving results and performance.” Barbara values curiosity. Whether it’s a product review or merchandising meeting, she likes asking questions and engaging in dialogue to develop clarity and ensure productive and efficient time with her teams. Her best early career advice? “Try a lot of things, especially when you’re young—even if it’s [job] shadowing with individuals you want to know more about. Ultimately, you have to decide for yourself on 'What fills my cup?' 'What motivates me?' and 'How do I get more information to make that [career] decision?'” Thanks for sharing these insights, Barbara! #Talbots #CareerDevelopment

What are Talbots' summer interns up to? We're glad you asked! Our crew of 11 of interns based in our Massachusetts headquarters—representing various departments such as finance, marketing, design, and more—are immersing themselves in Talbots. During store tours last week, they had an opportunity to visit three locations, including the very first Talbots store on North Street in Hingham. Store managers guided them through key touchpoints and demonstrated how our associates create the personalized customer experiences we're known for. We're thrilled to have these talented individuals with us for the summer, sharing their fresh perspectives and contributing to their departments! ✨ #LifeAtTalbots #Internships
