Helping founders and leadership teams build a legacy that transcends financial success

To me, a #PeopleFirstCulture is essential. Without your people, you wouldn't have a company. 5 things to be sure you're prioritizing: 1: Open Communication 📣 Open, honest, and frequent communication builds trust and ensures everyone is on the same page. Openly communicate the WHY behind your actions — when your team can get behind the WHY with you, powerful progress can be made. Tip 2: Listening to Your Team 🗣 Encourage feedback and active listening to create a culture where everyone feels heard and valued. Create opportunities for different voices to be heard and valued, and celebrate the unique perspectives each person brings. For this to work, feedback cannot be stigmatized in any way — after all, it is a gift to receive. Tip 3: Professional Growth 📈 Invest in your team’s development by providing opportunities for training, mentoring, and career advancement. What a gift to get to support them in their personal and professional growth. Listen to the areas they want to excel in and be on the lookout for opportunities that match. Tip 4: Recognizing and Rewarding 🎉 Do you know what really motivates each of your team members? You should! Acknowledge hard work and achievements regularly in a way that is meaningful to them. Recognition can be a powerful motivator and helps to build a positive and appreciative work environment. Tip 5: Work-Life Balance ⚖️ Get ahead of burnout and proactively encourage a healthy work-life balance by offering flexible work arrangements, generous PTO, and well-being initiatives. Show that you care about your team’s overall health and happiness both in and out of the office. Prioritizing your people and your culture makes all the difference — people can tell when they're truly cared for vs when they're being used as pawns. #culture #leadershipdevelopment

Husband | Father | Faith Driven Business Coach | Investor

For many years, I envisioned a career where I could blend business acumen with ministry work, applying the principles of one to enhance the impact of the other. When I entered the business world, I was determined to become excellent at business, hoping that one day, I could leverage those skills to serve impactful ministries. Recently at Tailwinds Group, we’ve had the opportunity to partner with Jeff Zaugg, the founder of DadAwesome, a ministry helping dads become more intentional fathers. This collaboration allowed me to leverage my skills as a business leader, grounded in faith, to help craft the next chapter of strategy for a cause that's close to my heart: intentional fatherhood. To see that dream of integrating sound business practices with a ministry whose mission matters so much is fulfilling beyond words.

Helping founders and leadership teams build a legacy that transcends financial success

Think about the best leader you've ever had. What was it about their leadership style that made them the best? I'm willing to bet your answer could fall under one of two categories. The best leaders are: 👉 inwardly sound 👉 others-focused 🧘♂️💡 Inwardly sound leaders possess a deep understanding of their strengths, weaknesses, and core values. They operate from a place of integrity and purpose, ensuring that their actions are always aligned with their beliefs. Balancing their mental, emotional, and physical well-being enables inwardly sound leaders to remain secure and settled, even in the face of challenges. This inner stability not only fosters trust but also inspires those around them to strive for the same level of self-awareness and integrity. 🌱🤝 Others-focused leaders are attentive, curious, empathetic and humble, prioritizing the needs and growth of their team members. Their curiosity drives them to understand different perspectives, fostering a culture of inclusion and innovation. Empathy allows them to connect deeply with their team, creating a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and understood. Humility ensures that they are approachable and open to feedback, constantly seeking ways to improve and serve better. Was I right? Does the best leader in your life fit into one of both of these categories? How does your own leadership style compare? #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #leaders

Business Advisor | Investor l Moving businesses - and lives - toward better destinations.

Yesterday, I got a reMarkable 2 tablet. I was looking for something more organized than my trusty leather journal with its refillable notebooks, which I would fill up without knowing where things were, and less distracting than an iPad Pro with its constant messages, notifications, and internet temptations. I’m only a day into using it, but so far, I L-O-V-E it. Some smart friends like Scott Ritzheimer and Josh Schrock swear by carrying a writing tablet in their meetings when they’re consulting and coaching entrepreneurs. And in the less than a day that I’ve owned it, I’ve bumped into Shaylan Hurley and Ryan Burt, who are raving fans and have been giving me a crash course on the cool stuff it can do. Have you tried an e-ink tablet like this? What’s been your experience? I’d love to hear your favorite tips and tricks for making the most of it! PS, a few of my scribbles about what i mean when I say ‘work-life integration.’ And s/o to Benj and McKenzie for helping me realize why most business frameworks were lacking for me.

CEO of System & Soul | Certified Business Coach | Serial Entrepreneur | Keynote Speaker | Author of Renegades

Catching up on a busy few weeks and wanted to say how proud I am of the System & Soul community. Our #systemandsoul coaches joined us in Atlanta last week for a day and a half of deep-diving on their stories: - who they are - who they are here to serve - and how we can help #smallbusiness leaders unlock a better story I'm immensely grateful for our coaches, who they are, and all they bring to the world. 💙 Special thanks to Clay Scroggins, Heather Robertson Fortner, and David McMillian for sharing your stories!

Friends, if you're leading in any capacity, you know it's easy to get sucked into fighting fires and getting urgent stuff done. That's often what you're paid to do—keep the wheels spinning and the machine running smoothly. But is that really what you're paid to do? I want to remind you to pause today and ask yourself that question. Understand the why and what you're driving toward. If you're managing chaos, you're not creating the clarity and control you were brought in to lead. If you look across your organization, how much time and staff attention is being spent on activity that keeps you running in circles? Your next question might be, what do we need to stop doing right now? Or what do I need to do in order to stop playing defense and start playing offense? —---- We’re System & Soul. We help leadership teams get aligned, healthy, and effective. This idea comes from our weekday newsletter.
