How much buzz can superheroes generate in one weekend? TL;DR - a lot. Just look at this data, powered by social listening, from both San Diego Comic Con (#SDCC) and the #DeadpoolAndWolverine release. We also uncovered an interesting insight: While the movie accounted for just over half of the messages sent, it drove over 85% of the total engagements. Baking social listening into your social strategy can dramatically scale your efforts and opportunities. By understanding and analyzing conversations around key events, brands can create more engaging and discoverable content. How are you using social listening? We want to hear it 👇

We talk a lot about how brands can maximize the power of social. The most innovative companies consistently recognize social doesn’t stand alone — at its best, it should complement and amplify your other marketing investments. So, I love seeing when brands thoughtfully integrate social with in-person event activations. Some recent favorites: Rocket Mortgage used their 2024 NFL Draft sponsorship as a springboard for the multichannel, integrated “Dreammate” campaign. Through a mix of short-form social video and UGC, the brand showcased stories of athletes who achieved their dreams and the invaluable role of mentors and family who helped them get there. Topgolf also tapped into a major sports event: The Masters. The brand wasn’t going to let one of professional golf’s biggest weekends go to waste, sending a branded truck onto the streets of Augusta to hand out (of course) peach ice cream sandwiches. The in-person stunt drove +40k views on Instagram and TikTok, and earned a mention in the Wall Street Journal. Check out our Post Performance Report series for more examples of brands perfecting the social-event handshake 🤝 https://bit.ly/3zSYcDP

If you're not sure if your team is using accessibility best practices on social, this is your sign to stop and share this post. Here are a few ways to make your content more accessible to everyone, plus a few ways you can make this an easier practice for your whole team: 1. Add alt text to images. (Pro tip: AI can help you here—Sprout's new Generate by AI Assist feature generates accurate and descriptive alt text. Just always be sure to double-check the work AI has created to avoid mistakes or biases!) 2. Ensure your social text and hashtags are written in an accessible way. For example, writing hashtags in camel case vs all lowercase. (Example: #SocialMedia vs #socialmedia) 3. Be mindful of emojis and placement. 4. Add closed captions and subtitles. 5. Use inclusive language and imagery. 6. Ensure text on your graphics contrasts with the background colors. For more best practices and tips from accessibility advocate Alexa Heinrich, head to the blog: https://bit.ly/3L3SQaX ____ GIF description: A gif that demonstrates Sprout's AI alt text feature. Several photos appear and when the "Generate by AI Assist" button is tapped, an accurate description is instantly created by Sprout.
