Last week, our CEO and Cofounder, Lauren Flanagan, spoke at Reuters Global Energy Transition 2024 event in New York City. It was an honor to share Sesame Solar's strategic plan for adopting, implementing and scaling clean technology to accelerate the shift to a low carbon economy. This was an opportunity to meet with customers and strategic investors to forge partnerships for the greater good of enhancing our planet's shift to clean energy. According to NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, there have been 156 separate billion-dollar weather or climate disasters in the U.S. between 2005-2019 that have cost a combined $1.16 trillion in damages, all caused by trapped greenhouse gas emissions in our atmosphere, primarily from burning fossil fuels. Recently, in the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Gutteres' special address on climate action, he called for an end to fossil fuel advertising and the greenwashing that seeks to delay climate action. Gutteres said: "Many governments restrict or prohibit advertising for products that harm human health – like tobacco. Some are now doing the same with fossil fuels. I urge every country to ban advertising from fossil fuel companies. And I urge news media and tech companies to stop taking fossil fuel advertising. We must all deal also with the demand side. All of us can make a difference, by embracing clean technologies, phasing down fossil fuels in our own lives, and using our power as citizens to push for systemic change." The oceans are warming at an alarming rate and the #1 cause is fossil fuels. Our CEO and Cofounder, Lauren Flanagan, had the immense honor of being invited to participate in last week's The White House Climate Capital Convening. This meeting was hosted by the White House Office of Climate Policy and included members of the Biden-Harris Administration, climate-tech start-ups, small business owners, entrepreneurs and investors. During this meeting, Lauren presented three strategic proposals aimed at accelerating the adoption of climate tech and enhancing our nation's resilience to climate change: 1. Renewable power mandate for FEMA and increased tax credits/direct payments for the power rental companies that serve FEMA 2. New SBA loan tailored to the needs of climate tech companies 3. Enhanced cross agency communications for climate tech companies to speed procurement We are optimistic for the road ahead and grateful to be part of this important discussion focused on President Biden's investment in America's clean energy economy and how to expand and build upon this momentum.
