Disability Pride Month is celebrated each July and so this month we are feeling very #DisabilityProud to introduce Sarepta’s newest employee resource group (ERG): Disability Community Resource Group, or DisCO! DisCO was launched to amplify Sarepta’s culture of belonging and meritocracy by connecting our own disability community. DisCO exists to ensure we maintain a disability-inclusiveness lens in how we work and ignite a positive culture for those who identify with a disability or are allies of the disability community. The ERG welcomes people living with physical, cognitive or intellectual disabilities, as well as chronic illness, mental illness, neurodivergence, mobility differences, and all those who consider themselves allies, advocates or caregivers of these and related communities. Christine Prendergast and Brian Ung, PharmD, MS are DisCO’s inaugural co-leads. “Our Sarepta culture is amazing – we eat sleep and breathe being inclusive, Christine said. “The launch of this ERG closes a gap, and Sarepta is being a leader in disability inclusiveness.” “There is a lot of talk of diversity, equity and inclusion, or DEI. We want to put the A – for accessibility – in DEI-A,” Brian added Swipe to read more of their thoughts on how DisCO can support Sarepta colleagues, and why a disability-inclusive culture is important to Sarepta’s mission and success. #DisabilityPride

Happy #NationalInternDay! Today we celebrate our great group of summer interns working across our five Sarepta sites, plus those working remotely. From more than 13,000 applicants, we narrowed it down to 26 interns. We recently checked in with a few of them and asked, “How’s it going?” Watch to see their replies and be sure to thank an intern today. They are a highlight of our summer months!  Tanner Adair Joy Yoo Marissa Burati Nicole Benjamin Jianrui Zhang Tawan (Pop) Kiratiwongwan

A number of colleagues from our Genetic Therapies Center of Excellence (GTCOE) in Columbus, Ohio, came together recently for the 12th Annual Virtual Run, Walk, and Roll hosted by Laughing At My Nightmare, Inc. (LAMN). LAMN is a nonprofit dedicated to providing adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and access to higher education for individuals living with disabilities. Sarepta is a long-time supporter of the event, but this was the first time we gathered to run, walk and roll together as #OneSarepta. The event was co-hosted by two of Sarepta’s Employee Resource Groups.

As Sarepta’s summer internship program continues, interns recently had the opportunity to gather and connect with our Executive Vice President, Head of R&D and Chief Scientific Officer Louise Rodino-Klapac, Ph.D. Interns called in from our different locations, while our Columbus-based interns met in person with Dr. Rodino-Klapac at our Genetic Therapies Center of Excellence (GTCOE). They learned more about her journey to Sarepta and took a deep dive into the discovery, pre-clinical and clinical development supporting Sarepta’s pipeline of genetic medicines. Columbus is just one of the five locations hosting a total of 26 interns this summer. Hard to believe summer is nearly halfway over already!
