About us
San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is a nonprofit international conservation leader, committed to inspiring passion for nature and creating a world where all life thrives. The San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance (SDZWA) empowers people from around the globe to support their mission to conserve wildlife through innovation and partnerships. SDZWA supports cutting-edge conservation and brings the stories of their work back to two world-famous facilities, the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park—giving millions of guests, in person and virtually, the opportunity to experience conservation in action. The work of SDZWA extends from San Diego to strategic and regional conservation “hubs” across the globe, where their strengths—via their “Conservation Toolbox,” including the renowned Wildlife Biodiversity Bank—are able to effectively align with hundreds of regional partners to improve outcomes for wildlife in more coordinated efforts. By leveraging these tools in wildlife care and conservation science, and through collaboration with hundreds of partners, SDZWA has reintroduced more than 44 endangered species to native habitats. Each year, San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance's work reaches over 1 billion people in 150 countries via news media, social media, their websites, educational resources and the San Diego Zoo Kids channel, which is in children’s hospitals in 13 countries. Success is made possible by the support of members, donors and guests to the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park, who are Wildlife Allies committed to ensuring All Life Thrives.

Paws for a panda sneak peek 🐼 Yun Chuan and Xin Bao arrived safely in San Diego on June 27th and are settling in comfortably thanks to their wildlife care experts. Yun Chuan has been spending his days climbing trees or rolling in the grass, while Xin Bao loves sunbathing and chowing down on her favorite food, bamboo. The adorable duo will spend the next few weeks acclimating to their new home privately as our Wildlife Care and Wildlife Health team members closely monitor them collaboratively with our Chinese conservation partners. They will be viewable to guests later this summer. Visit the link in our bio for more details. #americasfinestpandas #pandiego #pandas #sandiegozoo

Teddy no swiping! 🦊 A red fox with a rare silver and white coat, Teddy was found in Wisconsin as an orphaned fox kit and was initially cared for by the Dane County Humane Society’s Wildlife Center. Because Teddy was incredibly friendly and unafraid of humans, he was deemed non-releasable. He's currently in training to become a wildlife ambassador at Africa Rocks where he'll help educate guests on why wildlife do not make good pets.

San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance leaders joined esteemed dignitaries and conservation leaders in China for a farewell ceremony honoring Yun Chuan and Xin Bao, the two giant pandas coming to San Diego Zoo. The ceremony at the China Conservation & Research Center for Giant Pandas in Sichuan Province celebrated the deep connections of giant pandas to the San Diego Zoo and our longstanding partnership with the China Wildlife Conservation Association (CWCA). So, when can you see them? 👀🐼 After the pandas have safely arrived in San Diego, they will not be viewable to the public while they acclimate for several weeks to their new home. As soon as wildlife health and care teams confirm Yun Chuan and Xin Bao are ready to meet the public, we will share a debut date and specific information about how to see the beloved pandas. We can’t wait to welcome the first panda pair to enter the United States in 21 years and share them with their adoring fans. See you soon! #AmericasFinestPandas #Pandiego #SanDiegoZoo
