The Lake of the Ozarks is one of Missouri's crown jewels. Created with the construction of the Bagnell Dam in 1931, this 54,000-acre lake is a vital resource for central Missouri's residents. It provides power to over 40,000 households and is a huge hub for recreation and community. SAM is proud to be a committed partner in the lake's management and continued success, with a relationship lasting over 24 years and counting. During this time, SAM has developed the Shoreline Management System, an extensive GIS platform that combines spatial datasets, digital maps, permitting, and other key initiatives to improve the lake. This is only possible with the holistic, comprehensive offerings of the MGS™ Solutions ecosystem, which utilizes an exhaustive portfolio of experience to curate custom strategies for client success and efficiency. Just as no two clients are the same, the solutions shouldn't be either. Watch the video below to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gF9XhswV

As America's infrastructure ages, countless local governments across the country find themselves at an important crossroads. Faced with the often expensive and critical task of upgrading their local infrastructure, they must decide how to proceed: the most economical option? incremental patchwork? or large-scale overhaul programs that will be a long-term investment in the future. Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, recently faced this challenge, and it decided to look to the future by undertaking a massive overhaul of its aging water system. The city chose SAM as a partner to make these vital improvements, and the program ended up requiring extensive knowledge of multiple geospatial and engineering disciplines. Luckily, SAM's Managed Geospatial Solutions™ framework was uniquely suited to the challenge. We detail how our team helped the city make this program a success in our latest case story: https://lnkd.in/dkeVKCEN

Let’s talk bridges! Did you know that SAM recently won a ACEC National Engineering Excellence Award? The "Texas Department of Transportation 2020 Bridge Clearance Program Schedule" addressed the safety of 4,448 bridges across Texas over three years. SAM leveraged our Mobile LiDAR technology to map bridge clearances and acquire feature extractions. We used GIS to gather an asset inventory, streamlining the inspection process of each bridge. The relative vertical accuracy of the Mobile LiDAR over paved roads was 0.02’ (0.61-cm) or better. The horizontal relative accuracy for the Mobile LiDAR was 0.10’ (3.33-cm) or better. #TxDOT #DOT #Survey #Mapping. #Lidar #GIS #Bridge #DOT #transporation #engineering #design #mobileLiDAR #accuracy #pointcloud #departmentoftransportation #inspection
