We're excited to welcome over 30 new volunteer to our team this summer! This enthusiastic group includes experienced professionals, as well as students who are gaining their first work experience. Our volunteers are working across many departments, including the hospital's Gift Shop, Emergency Department, Outpatient Clinic, Finance, Pastoral Care, and Human Resources. They are eager to learn, contribute, and make a difference in the lives of those we serve. We're thrilled to be a part of the innovative City of Yonkers Drone First Responder Program - the first of its kind in Westchester County. This pioneering initiative, announced today by Mayor Mike Spano, Yonkers Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza, and President and CEO of Saint Joseph’s Medical Center Michael J. Spicer, will leverage the power of aerial technology to enhance emergency response and save lives in our community. As part of the eight-week trial program, the AIR1 drone will be launched and operated from the rooftop of Saint Joseph's Medical Center, and serve as an advanced first responder, aiding in critical situations such as searching for missing persons or deploying flotation devices to those struggling in the water. This cutting-edge technology will give first responders the ability to quickly assess and respond to emergencies, even before they arrive on the scene.
