About us
Moving victims of violence from crisis to confidence ... Safe Horizon’s mission is to provide support, prevent violence, and promote justice for victims of crime and abuse, their families, and communities. For over a quarter of a century Safe Horizon has been at the forefront of helping victims of crime and abuse through their crises. We are woven into the fabric of New York City, and we are here where and when you need us – in the courts, in your community and at the other end of a telephone at any hour of the day or night. We are recognized leaders responding to the changing needs of our clients, and we are sought out as experts on issues of violence and victimization for programs across the country and around the world. One by one, our dedicated staff touches the lives of 250,000 victims and their families each year, helping them to find hope by offering a chance to tell their story in their own words, a guide through the criminal justice system, a safe place to sleep, and so much more.

At Safe Horizon Streetwork Project, we believe in a compassionate approach to supporting runaway and homeless youth. 🏠💙 🚫 Abstinence isn't the only answer. Instead, we focus on harm reduction strategies that meet youth where they are, providing: 💊 Safer substance use practices 🤝 Supportive services 📚 Education on health and safety 🌈 Every young person deserves understanding and respect. By embracing harm reduction, we keep the conversation open and accessible, fostering trust and promoting healthier choices. Let's continue to advocate for inclusive and effective support systems for all youth! 🌟💬 #HarmReduction #YouthSupport #EndStigma #CommunityCare #EmpowerYouth

The Mayor and the New York City Council passed the FY25 budget, which takes effect July 1, without restoring a $3 million funding cut for our Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP). These cuts will remove CVAP advocates from up to 20 police precincts, leaving nearly 11,000 survivors a year without access to essential support navigating the aftermath of violence. These are real people facing trauma. Is this how New York prioritizes public safety? #NYCNeedsCVAP Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/eDsv3BfA
