Did you know Black children aged 10-15 are over seven times more likely to drown in swimming pools than their white peers, according to the CDC. The Boys & Girls Club’s research also revealed that 60% of Black children can't swim, compared to their counterparts. Despite this, 83% of these non-swimmers plan to visit pools or beaches this summer, posing a significant risk. The African American Museum of Southern Arizona (AAMSAZ) is proactively addressing this issue. Co-founders Kimberlee Avant and Beverly Elliot received a $5,000 grant from the OneAZ Community Foundation. This funding enables them to provide complimentary swim lessons, equipment, and accessories to local youth. Historical factors, such as redlining and restricted access to community pools, contribute to the racial disparity in swimming ability. AAMSAZ aims to create a safer summer for Black children. More information and registration details are available on the UA Campus Recreation website. Supporting children today is how we create change in the future. Our youth are looking for mentors and positive role models to teach them the importance of following their dreams and redefining what’s possible. The Salvation Army New Jersey Division makes dreams come true by tending to the needs of our youth and offering opportunities to focus on the opportunities that (still) exist for practically any person with passion, drive, and determination. Newark student Eunique Rink is a prime example of how The Salvation Army's programs help young people achieve their dreams. He received a full-ride scholarship to Hampton University as a D1 athlete. Beyond providing vital resources to help individuals and families become self-sufficient, The Salvation Army New Jersey Division cultivates an environment of encouragement and growth. Mentorship, educational support, and extracurricular activities are just some of what the global nonprofit provides. They empower young people to break through barriers and achieve their highest potential. https://lnkd.in/dXf8B_cN #SalvationArmy #Basketball #Youth #Community #D1Athlete #Newark #NewJersey #Collegebasketball

The Rosica team wants to extend our gratitude and utmost support to the residents of New York. We represent libraries, schools, and education nonprofits and believe their efforts are worthy of recognition. New York City's Mayor Eric Adams and the City Council have reinstated seven days a week library services and have restored $58 million in library cuts! What a tremendous win for the community and our youth, as libraries are imperative to our free, democratic society. They are “where knowledge lives.” To learn more, click here: https://shorturl.at/7zvoP #NYC #NYCLibraries #Savethebooks #Community #EricAdams #Youth #Rosica #EducationPR

Social media is essential for engagement, and in recent years has replaced traditional methods of promotion like print ads and brochures – especially when targeting younger stakeholders. Over the years, through many forms of trial and error, we believe one way to cut through the noise and connect with key stakeholders is paid ads. By leveraging paid ad features on social media platforms, our clients share more dynamic and interactive content that resonates with younger demographics, ensuring key messages are impactful and far-reaching. However, connecting with the youth is one thing, but applying strategy to the connection is a true game changer for nonprofits. If you're interested in learning about paid ads on social, read the latest article on our website. https://lnkd.in/edkfZfGG #Stakeholders #Nonprofit #Marketing #Engagement #Fundraising #Futuresponsors #Sponserships #Volunteers #Expansion #Rosica #RosicaCommunnications #PR #PublicRelations #Tech #SocialMedia

Representation matters, and we must not stray away from sharing stories that uniquely describe cultural experiences in efforts of targeted bigotry. People of color and LGBTQ+ books represent 47% of book bans, as reported by CBS News. We owe everything to Librarians who speak for us when no one will. They are the bookkeepers that harbor the knowledge of past, present, and future. Hoboken Public Library has the right idea of banning the "book ban" by protecting the voices of marginalized people and becoming a sanctuary city. We want to thank librarians, specifically Library Director Jennie Pu, who has advocated for our favorite cultural classics. You can watch her recent CBS interview here: https://lnkd.in/eZA3nrKU #Bookban #Library #Sanctuarycity #Hoboken #Representation #Savethebooks #Storytelling #JamesBaldwin #ToniMorrison #AliceWalker #Shareyourstory #Authors #POCauthors #LGBTQ+ #Queerauthors #Rosica #RosicaCommunications

Looking back on Pride Month 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ We want to commend model and influencer Zaya Wade on the release of Translatable. The platform is for LGBTQ+ people, parents of members of the LGBTQ+ community, and others who seek resources, support, or a way of expressing themselves. Zaya is most notably known for her commitment to raising awareness for Trans youth, fashion, and the controversy of coming out at twelve. Since that time, Wade has flourished in brand deals, runways, and more. The Northeast is experiencing extreme heat this week, with temperatures rising above 90 degrees. While many have access to air conditioning, this poses a challenge for those who do not. That’s why The Salvation Army Greater New York Division opened numerous cooling centers around Manhattan and the boroughs. CBS New York shared an article with resources for people looking to escape the heat, including The Salvation Army’s active centers.
