Uniting changemakers in the fight for human rights and climate justice in the clothing industry. Take action ⬇️

About us

Today, our clothes are disposable and cheap, while the human and environmental costs required to make them are tremendous. For the millions of mostly 18 to 24-year-old women (who represent 80% of the fashion supply chain), these jobs can be the best first step out of poverty. Yet the industry is rife with low wages, inadequate worker protections, unsafe conditions, and unrest. The current system needs a remake, and we are here to do just that. Our mission is to build a conscious consumer movement. Remake tells stories that bring shoppers, brands, and makers into a movement to shape the fashion industry’s relationship with the millions of people in its supply chain. When we know their stories, we can use our collective voice and shopping dollars to improve and shape the lives of people who make our clothes.

Does anything about Rachel's journey feel familiar to you? "When I started my #NoNewClothes journey, I was living in New York City, AKA the epicenter of thrifting. But I’ve since moved back to my home state and still have had incredible finds at my local second hand stores. I don’t see a world where I go back to buying new clothes because it just doesn’t make any sense. There is an unfathomable amount of perfectly good clothing going to waste each year, I simply don’t need to buy new things. It’s easy to think that one transaction, or one online order won’t make a difference. But things do add up. I like to think that every time someone compliments what I’m wearing and I tell them I bought it second hand, I’m slightly opening their mind to thrift stores and diverting them from the mall. When multiple people are making conscious clothing choices, the impact will compound that much faster. It’s not easy to get the world to stop clicking “Order Now,” but we have to start somewhere – the earth is begging us. My consumer footprint is one of the few things I can control in my life. I don’t want to waste that opportunity. I’m choosing to make the most out of this by buying the least." - Rachel Cross, 2.5 years and counting with No New Clothes ♻️ Reset your relationship with fashion - click to read more about the challenge and start your 3 months of #NoNewClothes today: https://lnkd.in/gRpuSuiH

Activists recently held a street performance outside Lululemon’s Vancouver flagship store. Why, you ask? To award the company Olympic medals for its climate crimes, human rights failures, and greenwashing. lululemon claims that its leggings help ‘restore a healthy planet,’ but in just two years, Lululemon doubled its climate pollution. Since 2020, the Canadian Olympic Committee has been a signatory of the United Nations Sport for Climate Action Framework, with a commitment to halve its emissions by 2030. Yet, as Team Canada’s official outfitters, lululemon’s emissions doubled in that same time frame. And while claiming that its leggings help ‘restore a healthy planet,’ Lululemon burned thousands of tonnes of coal, and turned endless barrels of oil into clothing. When Team Canada walks onto the world stage in Paris at the 2024 Olympics, they deserve to be dressed in uniforms that reflect their values. Not dressed in oil. ‼️ Learn more and take action: https://lnkd.in/gkJDN9dr This campaign is in partnership with Stand.earth, Action Speaks Louder, and Oxfam Canada 🗣️🗣️ #SustainableFashion #Olympics2024 #DressedInOil #TeamCanada
