On August 1, Fort Collins Colorado will begin delivery of more than 41,000 recycling carts to households across the community. A $664,000 grant from The Recycling Partnership is helping transition the community to weekly curbside recycling collection. We look forward to seeing recycling become more accessible as Colorado’s statewide policy for recycling from its extended producer responsibility program is implemented. Recycling in Michigan has reached new heights according to Grand Rapids Magazine, with over 620,000 tons of residential recycled materials reported for fiscal year 2022. The City of Grand Rapids is taking it further with a high-tech curbside recycling program in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy, The Recycling Partnership, and Prairie Robotics. This innovative six-month pilot project uses advanced technology on recycling trucks to identify contaminants like plastic bags and yard waste, providing residents with real-time feedback on proper recycling practices.
