Life Opportunities for People with Disabilities

About us

Our mission is to support people with disabilities to fulfill their life choices. Founded in 1942, PROVAIL serves the Puget Sound area with planned expansion across western Washington. Our programs support three areas of life on the pathway to inclusion: Mobility & Communications: With School District Coaching, Speech and Occupational Therapies, Assistive Technology, and more – our Mobility & Communication team empowers people to live more independently. Employment Services: Our Employment team experts work with each individual to match them to a local business based on their strengths and provide ongoing guidance to both employers and employees. We also partner with businesses to build more inclusive workplaces. Home and Lifestyle: Our Home & Lifestyle services focus on independent living and community integration. We currently provide wraparound services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

✨ Happy 34th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act! This landmark civil rights law protects the rights of people with disabilities, fostering a more inclusive society. This week, we've been asking our community: "Why is #DisabilityPrideMonth important to you?" Holly Soetart shared a powerful reflection in response to our partner post with Kindering, a local nonprofit serving children with disabilities: "There was nothing like this in the early 1960s when my brother was growing up. It’s crucial to spread awareness that just because someone looks or speaks differently, they are still a valuable part of our community." - Holly Soetart Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts. Together, we grow! 🌱 📷 Accessibility Image Description: A diverse group of people with various disabilities seated around a table in a conference room, smiling and raising their hands in celebration. #PROVAIL #InclusionMatters #ADAAnniversary #ADA #ADA34 #ThanksToTheADA #ADANationalNetwork

💙 Celebrating the legacy of the #AmericansWithDisabilitiesAct, we're sharing another answer to the question: "Why is #DisabilityPrideMonth important to you?” This heartfelt response comes from Tabia Kocks, a participant in PROVAIL’s Employment Services program: "I have been living with my disabilities for 31 years, and they do not define how I achieve my goals or interact with the community. I have a lot of confidence and pride in who I am; it gives me the courage to face anything! With the support of my family and community, I can do anything!" We invite you to add your voice to the conversation. 🌟The #AmericansWithDisabilitiesAct was signed into law 34 years ago this week! To celebrate #DisabilityPrideMonth, we asked our community: ➡️“Why is Disability Pride Month important to you?” Our first response came from PROVAIL’s Community Partnerships Manager, Madison Johnson: "For the first 12 years of my disability journey, I tried as hard as I could to defy my disability. I found my disability community in my early 20s. Then, my whole world changed. I realized that my disability wasn't the problem, it wasn't something to cure or hide. The ableist world we live in is the problem. Now, I am a proud diabetic, and I am honored to advocate for all people living with disabilities." Join us by sharing your answer in the comments below.👇 Let's amplify the conversation together. #ADA #PROVAIL #InclusionMatters #DisabilityPride 📷 Accessibility Caption: The image shows a picture of Madi Johnson, PROVAIL's Community Partnerships Manager, with a disability pride flag in the background and a variety of disability icons at the bottom.

💙Today, as part of our celebration of Disability Pride Month, we are highlighting PROVAIL’s Mobility & Communication program. Did you know? 🌟 Every July, we celebrate #DisabilityPrideMonth, marking the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) enacted on July 26, 1990. This year’s theme, determined by The Arc of the United States, is: WE WANT A LIFE LIKE YOURS At PROVAIL, we are driven by the belief that everyone deserves to live a full, self-determined life. Yet, we recognize that discrimination and barriers still exist for the 1 in 4 U.S. adults living with a disability. This reality underscores the importance of our mission and the work we do every day. This year, during Disability Pride Month, we are asking: ➡️Why is Disability Pride important to you? Share your thoughts in the comments below and join us in celebrating the resilience, achievements, and diversity of the disability community. Let’s work together to build a more inclusive world! 🌍 #DisabilityPride #InclusionMatters #PROVAIL #DisabilityAwareness 📷 Accessibility Caption: The image is an infographic visually displaying that 1 out of 4 adults in the US live with a disability. PROVAIL clients from our Employment Services, Mobility & Communication, and Home & Lifestyle programs are pictured with the caption, We Want A Life Like Yours.
