  • Why are PTs and other rehab therapists changing careers? This was the leading question behind our recent survey, where we asked clinicians who recently transitioned or are considering it what led to their decision. Respondents could choose multiple factors; these were some of the top findings: #1. Lack of professional growth opportunities: 85% #2. Insufficient salary and benefits: 73% #3. Emotional burnout: 68% #4. Work-life balance issues: 61% #5. Excessive workload: 55% As practice owners look for ways to create a more sustainable workplace – and stand out in the increasingly competitive market for great candidates – these concerns should be top of mind. Share these findings with your leadership team and fellow practice owners, and let these takeaways lead to productive conversations to make traditional patient care a more rewarding line of work. • “I have been so excited by some of the small details I already see in Prompt that makes a biller do a happy dance.” 💃🙌 Today’s #PromptTestimonialTuesday features an (especially delighted) email our customer success team received (name anonymized to protect privacy). We get messages like this all the time.   And we have to admit: It feels really good knowing Prompt not only helps PT billers (and providers, clinicians, owners, front desk staff, etc.) get their work done really efficiently – It also makes them happier while doing it. When’s the last time your EMR made you do a happy dance? 😉

  • In our recent survey of clinicians leaving the field we asked: “What would you improve about the industry as a whole?” We heard some thoughtful answers and suggestions. Their responses hit on some major themes: - Expanding the non-clinical education that clinicians receive during school - Improving and rethinking the current reimbursement models - Offering more alternatives to these models for generating revenue - Educating the wider healthcare industry about what PTs do and its importance across patient care - Increasing public awareness on the benefits of rehab therapy for various health issues and overall well-being Thank you once again to The Clinician Transition for making this survey possible, and for the invaluable perspectives they shared! We’re hoping these insights and opinions can lead to productive conversations on these topics and contribute to positive change in our industry. Find the full report on why clinicians are leaving traditional patient care, linked in the comments.

  • “Within the first week we noticed a dramatic decrease (in documentation time).” Nick Nordtvedt, PT, DPT, CIMT, Cert MDT, Dynamix Physical Therapy “The documentation is a lot faster and it’s very, very concise.” Sterling Carter, Sterling Physical Therapy & Wellness “Documentation time certainly decreased from our prior EMR.” David Fleischman, MPT, Accelerated Performance Rehabilitation This #PromptTestimonialTuesday highlight reel features customers sharing why they love Prompt’s documentation and its overall impact on their practices. What if you could simplify and speed up clinical note-taking in a matter of days? Or should we say, get it done more Prompt-ly? 😉

    • Prompt Job Round-up
  • What might reverse the trend of PTs leaving traditional patient care roles? We asked clinicians who have recently changed careers or are considering it as part of our survey with The Clinician Transition online community. The question: What could be improved in traditional care? Their answers hit on some common themes: • More opportunities for career advancement/professional growth • Increased compensation and benefits • Greater focus on patients, less on overall productivity • Greater respect for their work, time, and feedback/ideas • A simplified documentation process (and modern tools to streamline it) so they don’t have to finish notes after work We compiled some of the thoughtful answers we received in this slider… To help broadcast their ideas to the rehab therapy community and create productive conversations around how our industry can move forward. If you’ve got ideas you don’t see here, we’d love to hear them. You can also read the full report on why rehab therapists are transitioning out of the field, linked below. Thanks so much to the survey respondents for offering these insights!

  • “Having data that we can trust and take action on quickly is something that’s really moving the needle for us.” Ben Carlson, Carlson ProCare As the owner of 5 practice locations, switching to Prompt delivered immediate impact for Ben. In addition to the real-time, actionable practice data… Prompt helped Carlson Procare achieve: • 15% increase in patient volume • DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) cut in half • A/R over 90 down to 4-6% Thanks for sharing your story, Ben! #PromptTestimonialTuesday

Why exactly are so many PTs and other rehab therapists changing careers? We went straight to the source to find out. 🔎 Prompt surveyed The Clinician Transition, an online community of therapists who recently transitioned from the field or are considering a change, to help us understand their journeys. What we discovered: - Lack of professional growth opportunities (85%) and insufficient salary/benefits (73%) were the top two reasons* clinicians gave for transitioning out of traditional care - 68% of all respondents said emotional burnout is a top reason for leaving traditional care - 79% of respondents under age 30 said that excessive workload was a top reason for transitioning - The top roles* that clinicians are transitioning to are customer success (52%) and product/project/program management (50%) - Clinicians with 5-7 years of experience represent the largest group seeking nontraditional roles - 24% of those surveyed indicated they’d consider returning to traditional care if they had a leadership role *Respondents were allowed to choose multiple answers in these questions Check out more key findings in this post, along with a sampling of open-ended responses and honest perspectives from clinicians. They explain what led to their decisions and what could be improved in the industry. Then, head over to the Prompt website for the complete report, “We Asked Rehab Therapists Why They Are Leaving Traditional Patient Care.” (link in comments) Stay tuned for additional deep dives into various findings in the coming weeks. And please share with your leadership team and peers in your network who might find this information valuable. Thank you to the survey participants and The Clinician Transition for partnering with us to uncover and share these insights.
