🔥 Hot-Off-The-Press! We're excited to announce that Maggie Raible, Head of Impact and Innovation at Basta, has been featured in a guest post on ImpactAlpha, where she shares her valuable perspective on how generative AI can transform career navigation. Read Maggie’s full feature "Giving first-generation college grads the (artificial) intel to launch their careers" on ImpactAlpha here https://lnkd.in/ecejqV8p 💡 While artificial intelligence is often feared as a job killer, Basta is using it to empower first-generation college students in their job search. Basta's Seekr survey provides personalized advice to job seekers, optimizing their chances of being hired. As Maggie Raible puts it, “When used strategically, the technology can be a game-changer, with the potential to drive economic mobility through richer and more customized career navigation.” 🔈 Maggie also emphasizes the responsibility of organizations working with first-generation college students to harness AI for creating an equitable economy. “We need to use generative AI to categorically transform how first-gen students navigate the start of their careers.” 💫 A big thank you to the editors of ImpactAlpha, Angelena Lufrano, and Kyle W. Kempf from Caliber Corporate Advisers for helping share these important insights on AI and the future of career navigation. #GenerativeAI #CareerNavigation #EconomicMobility #FirstGenStudents #CareerGuidance #FutureOfWork #ImpactAlpha #Basta #JobSearch #TechForGood #AIRevolution

🔈 PSA - Check out the insights shared by the Basta team from Jobs for the Future (JFF) Horizons conference on career mobility! If you are at the conference, connect with Sheila Sarem, Amber Field, Ed.D. and Christina Chinnici.
The Jobs for the Future (JFF) Horizons conference is at the intersection of sectors that play critical roles in career mobility for all. I have been inspired by the many speakers, specifically the higher ed institutions, organizations, and companies who have shared real solutions that enable the realization that vision. First gen college students are uniquely positioned to have a massive impact on the workforce, and so must... * integrate quality exposure experiences into learning from day one on campus * prepare the workplace for talent (instead of putting all the work on the young people) * amplify, not minimize, the shared experiences of first gen students, and meet young people right where they are If you were there or if you want to chat more about these meaningful solutions, find me at the conference or DM me! Thank you for leading us through "Cultivating and Recruiting Entrepreneurial Skills for Career Mobility" Sheila Sarem, BASTA Founder and CEO, Antwon Foreman, Director for LaunchPad at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Erica Lock, Senior VP and Rachel Danielle Latimore, Ed.D. VP of the Blackstone Charitable Foundation, and Camilla Collins, Global Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for Ellucian.

Happy First Job Friday! Congratulations to Stephanie Jimenez Reyes who accepted a full-time offer at SSCG Media Group to be an Assistant Media Planner! 🥳🥳🥳 ➡️ Stephanie said: “Thank you to everyone who helped me in my journey at Basta to get me here! Tatiana Soto, thank you for teaching me what STAR stories were and how to read job descriptions in the first place, and always making those sessions fun, interactive, and just enjoyable all throughout. Shania M. Carroll thank you for organizing all the events that you do. At many of these, especially in-person events, I was able to practice my networking skills, and connect with professionals, and other fellows. ➡️ Through these events, networking became less intimidating and more exciting. Mohamed Barry, thank you for being my career coach for this past month, for being really honest, clear, and providing me with all the support I needed. @Chante Chambers, thank you for the interview prep. If it hadn’t been for that, I don’t think I could’ve positioned myself as well as I did in the interviews, so thank you for all your feedback, it truly helped. ➡️ The most meaningful thing I got out of the Basta Fellowship is the sense of community, seeing other first-generation students going alongside me in the job search journey, through the hurdles of interviews and how to best tell a story to an interviewer. 💡 Advice to First-Gen Job Seekers: 📝 Reframe your thinking when it comes to the job search process. Think of job applications as increasing your chance of getting an interview, then think of interview prep as increasing your chance of getting that second interview.” Keep on thriving, Stephanie!🥳☺️ 👀If you are interested in applying for the Basta Fall 2024 Fellowship applications are now open apply by 7/22 here: https://lnkd.in/etvuXrkP #basta #firstgenmagic #bridgethegap #firstgengradadvice #careertips #interviewing #interviewadvice
