After a three-year hiatus, the annual PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT Fest is returning this Fall during childhood obesity Awareness Month. The experience will take place at The Bank Event Center in Atlanta, GA on Saturday, September 23, and will pay tribute to exceptional women in fitness through the prestigious "Sweatlebrity Award" presented by PGS. 2023 honorees include Te'a Cooper, Koya Webb, Tai Beauchamp, Nala Terry, Cleopatra Lee, Pamela Robinson, and not one but two surprise award winners! 1st of It's Kind Founded in 2011 by Aeshia Devore Branch, PGS is a powerful force in the fight against childhood obesity, empowering women and young girls to embrace healthier and happier lifestyles. Over the course of 11+ years, PGS has established itself as a trailblazing entity within the fitness industry. Notably, it proudly delivers the first Black woman-owned digital health and fitness magazine, prettygirlssweat.com. Additionally, PGS holds the distinction of being the first Black woman-owned collegiate workout organization, with chapters flourishing across 30 college campuses nationwide. This year's festival, themed "Health is Wealth," aims to emphasize the importance of prioritizing physical and mental fitness for women while raising money for programs that empower female students through movement. By the Numbers Since its inception, PGS has had a profound and positive impact on the lives of countless individuals. The PGSFEST, in particular, has drawn crowds of over 1000 women and girls, becoming a powerful platform for recognition and celebration. The festival has bestowed 24 prestigious Sweatlebrity awards to remarkable individuals, including Laila Ali, Keri Hilson, Sanya Richards-Ross, Toya Johnson, Renee Montgomery, Elise Neal, Lita Lewis, Jeannette Jenkins, and many other inspiring figures. In addition to these accomplishments, PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT's 501(C)3 nonprofit charity, Sweat Makes Cents, has made a significant difference. Through fundraising efforts, Sweat Makes Cents has raised more than $180,000 in donations, enabling the organization to provide valuable training and opportunities. The Sweat Makes Cents internship, and training program has successfully educated and empowered 5,000 young women, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to become health leaders within their communities.
