Pond is delivering advanced airport siting visualization that goes beyond the physical realm. As pioneers in the virtual reality (VR) space, Pond’s aviation staff use a customized version of the FAA’s VISTA (Virtual Immersive Siting Tower Assessment) – a process we call UrbanViz.   This technology is exclusive to Pond’s aviation practices and is the only third-party process approved by the FAA for airports to use in the air traffic control tower (ATCT) siting study process. UrbanViz is used to simulate air traffic control operations and determine the optimal eye height, configuration, and orientation of the tower for each location. This information is included in the siting study report and is crucial in selecting the optimal site for the tower.   #PowerofPond #VR #Aviation

As #ParkandRecMonth comes to a close, Pond's team of environmental scientists, water resource engineers, and landscape architects has been working closely with DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs on a trail revitalization plan and a plan to restore, manage and improve water resources within Deepdene Park. This 22-acre picturesque woodland was originally designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, Sr. and his sons and is the largest segment of Olmsted Linear Park. Over the years, Deepdene's rugged topography has suffered significant erosion posing a risk to the mature urban forest and critical park infrastructure. Pond’s efforts are focused on resurfacing the trails, restoring the park’s aquatic resources through sustainable and resilient design solutions, stabilizing eroding stream banks, and planting native species that can thrive in wet conditions. A key feature of Deepdene is its mature oak and hickory forest, which represents a critical ecological and aesthetic asset. These native hardwoods are integral to the park's biodiversity and historical character. The dense woodland also provides a habitat for wildlife and forms the backbone of the park’s canopy cover, offering shade and improving air quality for visitors. Pond's strategic restoration efforts help promote longevity and foster symbiosis between Deepdene's flora and fauna. #PowerofPond #ParkandRecMonth24 #FloraFaunaFriday

Pond is dedicated to positively impacting the communities where we live, work, and play. Over the years, we have supported various local and national philanthropic initiatives that honor service members, shelter families, help end hunger, and fight cancer.   In anticipation of the back-to-school season, Pond is raising money to support students and teachers in a number of ways, including at Frank L. Stanton Elementary School in Atlanta. The school's mission is to inspire the next generation of engineers and architects, and Pond is eager to help out.    Learn more about Pond's philanthropic pillars and the ways we help beyond our project scope: https://lnkd.in/eas-SRdB   #PowerofPond #BacktoSchool #Philanthropy

Yesterday, Pond had the pleasure of celebrating the grand opening of Vilano Beachfront Park in St. Johns County, Florida. Following an initial vision developed more than 15 years ago, Vilano Beachfront Park was designed for the specific purpose of integrating natural coastal preservation with Vilano's historic sandy beaches, providing a unique sense of place for activities and social recreation. Pond was tasked with conceptualizing and developing the design and served as the environmental consultant, architect, and structural engineer for the project. The park comprises a new pavilion structure with amphitheater-style seating, new changing stations, a new outdoor shower area, new dune walkovers, a play area, and other decorative elements including seashell walls, hardscaping, and landscaping. Additional features include educational signage to provide information on sea turtles and the effect lighting has on their nesting period. In addition to specific considerations for the surrounding ecology and environment, Vilano Beachfront Park is the first accessible beach in St. Johns County. Woven into the design is a mat for wheelchair access to the sandy beach and a wooden ocean viewing ramp area with a turn-around to accommodate wheelchairs. We're thrilled that this exciting project has finally been brought to fruition. Special thanks to our partners Matthews | DCCM and Haddad Engineering, Inc. who provided civil and landscaping; and mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering design services, respectively. We also would like to thank St. Johns County Parks & Recreation Department and the Vilano Beach Main Street Beach Main Street Board for their collaborative spirit and striving to maintain the vision and mission of the community. This is an exciting day for Vilano Beach! #PowerofPond #VilanoBeach #BeachfrontPark
