When a therapy animal was requested at an Anchor Communities Initiative training, a flagship program of A Way Home WA, Honeybear and her handler Dan were happy to oblige. 🥰 Honeybear’s calming presence and loving nature brought warmth and joy to everyone there. 🐶❤️ #therapydogsrock

#didyouknow that owning a pet comes with numerous health benefits? 🐾 Nancy Gee, a member of our Human-Animal Bond Advisory Board and director of the Center for Human-Animal Interaction at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, highlights how pets can: ✨ Alleviate loneliness ✨ Reduce stress ✨ Increase physical activity ✨ Improve cognitive function If you cannot own a pet, volunteering at your local shelter or requesting therapy pet visits from organizations like ours can also provide similar benefits. ❤️

Happy ✨ 92nd birthday ✨ to our co-founder, Dr. William "Bill" McCulloch! In the 1970s, Bill, his brother Michael, and Dr. Leo had a visionary idea: to launch an organization dedicated to proving through research what they already knew in their hearts 👇 Not only do animals make us happier, but healthier too. What started as a vision has grown into a Therapy Animal Program that visits millions of people each year, and it wouldn't have been possible without Bill. Join us in celebrating Bill's incredible legacy and wishing him a wonderful 92nd birthday! 🎉🐾

Last week, as #therapydog Fin and his handler were leaving the hospital, a man with tears in his eyes approached them. He asked if Fin could visit his wife, who was in severe pain and heartbroken over the recent loss of their beloved brown miniature poodle, who had eyes just like Fin's. 🥺 When they walked into her hospital room, the woman gasped and started crying at the sight of Fin. For 20 precious minutes, Fin sat by her side, offering her love and his comforting presence during an incredibly difficult time. 🐕💕

Sometimes, a visit with a therapy animal elicits what might seem like a small response, but it's actually a major accomplishment. 🎉 Tiana and her handler, Deb, recently visited a senior facility where one resident who rarely spoke said, "It's a cat. It's cute. OK bye." The staff was THRILLED. Moments like these show the incredible impact therapy animals have on people's lives. 🥰
