At Hillsboro Medical Center, Wes cares for the spiritual needs of patients as a chaplain while Tommy protects their physical wellbeing as a security officer. 🏥 Even when their shifts at Hillsboro Medical Center end, they both are on call for another important job—serving our country as members of the Oregon Army National Guard. 🇺🇸 This summer, they will deploy overseas. What a great success, Centro Cultural de Washington County! Thank you for fostering these valuable connections for the youth in our community. ✨ Hillsboro Medical Center is proud to have hosted this event on our campus!
Taking a moment to thank my incredible workforce development team at Centro Cultural de Washington County (Centro de Prosperidad). The Youth Empowerment Summit was a huge undertaking for our team, but hearing the stories our speakers shared was well worth it. Special thanks to Hillsboro Medical Center for being wonderful hosts! We had the opportunity to hear those in the healthcare and manufacturing industries share what lead them to their current roles and the barriers they faced, as well as words of encouragement for those that come next. A #favoritemoment was having José A. Esparza jump in and help a youth register for Portland Community College on the spot - the same youth ended up winning one of our $1,000 scholarships! These moments are the reason we continue to be intentional about creating space and opportunity for our community to access services. Shoutout to all that parents that showed up alongside their youth - seeing the support system in action was a reminder of why I’m so invested in working in and for mi comunidad.
