This week, we had the honor of hosting the Mayor of Global Financial City Osaka（国際金融都市OSAKA）with his delegation, celebrating 35 years of friendship between Hamburg and Osaka. 🌏🎉 During the visit, we gained valuable insights into Osaka's efforts to become Japan's Financial Capital and how they support startups in achieving this goal. We had the privilege of presenting NCA and hearing inspiring presentations from Anne Patzer of VAARHAFT and Maximilian Schumacher of DealCircle. Our discussions highlighted the challenges both Hamburg and Osaka face in positioning themselves as attractive locations for fintechs, business development measures, and establishing robust networks. Despite not being the top-ranked financial centers nationally, both cities share a strong and diverse economic structure. 🌟 We love meeting our startups and corporate partners in person for the kick-off of our program. Last week, we conducted two Product Field Workshops with VAARHAFT and recoupling at our office in Hamburg. 🚀 The workshop is crucial at the beginning of our six-month acceleration programme to: 🔍 Reduce complexity 📚 Agree on a common vocabulary 📌 Prioritize topics 🎯 Derive goals Typically, the first two hours are spent filling out the Product Field Map (📸 photo included). For each field, we allocate five minutes to write sticky notes which are then added to the map. Afterwards, we split into two groups, each group tackling one half of the map to prioritize and reduce the sticky notes until only three remain in each field. We then swap sides and discuss any unclear priorities. 🤝 In the second part of the workshop, we always aim to invite suitable corporate partners or external experts to share their insights. This helps us avoid getting lost in the details and instead gain a comprehensive understanding of the market. 🌐 A big thank you to everyone who joined our workshop! 🙏

We've had a week full of exciting events! ⭐ Carl Illies and Levke Salander embarked on an insightful journey at the Waterkant Festival in Kiel, diving deep into discussions about what VCs seek in early-stage startups. From seafront stages to innovative exhibits, it was an inspiring dive into Society, Start-up, Tech, Science, and Art. Connecting with founders and offering fundraising tips made this trip unforgettable! Meanwhile, our head honcho Thorsten Wittmuetz represented NCA at HTGF’s Family Day, held in Berlin for the first time. The conference was incredibly inspiring, especially the discussions on our signature discipline, Venture Clienting, and connecting corporates with startups. Once again, we were reassured that we are leading the pack in open innovation and enabling further fundraising through external R&D budgets. 🚀 But that wasn't enough – we had one more exciting event! Our Investment Team Lead Carl dove into Bielefeld's vibrant startup scene at Founders Foundation's Hinterland of Things summit. The caliber of speakers, corporates, and startups was truly impressive. We connected with the brightest early-stage teams and had insightful conversations. A big thanks to neoteq ventures and Cusp Capital for hosting us at the Pre-Dinner. It was fantastic reconnecting with familiar faces like our former crew member Quentin! All these events were a rewarding experience at the intersection of innovation and entrepreneurship.
